It's more just the natural entropy of game studios. Creative types don't want to work on the same project for a decade+, they wanna do new stuff and start their own projects.

Whether PoE can continue with the core crew aging out and leaving? Seems doubtful given the state of things.

I think Chris left when the masses that came to PoE wanted a much different game than he had imagined. He wanted slower more methodical combat and loot to be exciting and rare and most PoE1 players want the complete opposite. PoE2 was supposed to be a return to that and I'm pretty sure they either got internals or the word from above that that wasn't going to fly so they half-cooked their Souls Like and basically created a worse product than a PoE1 expansion or a Souls Like new game.

In the end Chris was trying to take the brunt of the constant outrage and upsetty spaghetti autist redditors and it burned him out. Burned Bex out too. So Chris took his pay and decided to enjoy the later half of his life and Bex went to higher paying pastures where she would hopefully endure less scathing retard venom that ended up fizzling out (Riot MMO). Rory was mostly art direction so he probably just wants to goof around as those types do and make a story around the models rather than models around the story. Jonathan was a hardware guy that just kept getting more and more responsibility as the others left/stepped back. He probably wasn't the right fit for a head Director and better a #2 guy whereas I think Mark is probably a better #1 guy and with Jonathan as his #2 might've done a lot better, but that's terrible optics.

Most likely outcome is PoE1/PoE2 gets thrown to the eastern office devs for cannibalizing their Chinese client's shit and they just have China GGG lead development and adapt for the Western audience rather than the other way around as I believe it's been working.

Allegedly in a stream today one of the Devs of another ARPG said Jonathan is leaving GGG after PoE2 officially launches. Gonna be hard for people to find a new scapegoat.
Is Jonathan in the room with you right now?

How the ever living fuck was anyone supposed to know that is the game he wanted when every single league they put out increased skill and item power and introduced league mechanics that vomited more and more loot onto the ground? It wasn't the players who decided on those things, it was the internal team and he was the lead. It ultimately falls on him that the game wasn't what he wanted.

Yeah not to mention adding in skills/gear that clear entire screens of enemies while zooming around at 100x speed, negating his wish of a "slow methodical" game. Those were all dev driven. The players definitely wanted this gameplay when they experienced it, I mean, who wouldnt? The game is way more fun that way, extreme power fantasy. But lets not forget, its the devs that turned the game into this first.

Creating a spiritual successor to Diablo II, a game which had hard caps and breakpoints on almost everything (cast rate, hit recovery, block rate, etc) and removing all of those caps is a real 500iq way of creating slow, methodical gameplay.

Gonna have to press X to doubt that Chris wanted PoE1 to be slow.

It's just the same slop everyone thinking they "know" Chris has been posting for a decade. With the continued success of PoE 1 right up until PoE 2 gives it the coupe de grace right in the fucking pie hole, Chris and GGG may not have been following their exact original dream but they were making a specific game for a specific audience. And making bank. What's so bad about money? I dunno, ask Jonathan, because PoE2 ain't gonna make bank like the beta for a long time they way they are going. The bank they made was founded on the success of PoE1, not 2.

What we DO 100% know for sure is that that fucker Chris did NOT want an auction house and thought easy, immediate, offline trade would destroy his game.

Previously we spoke about dropping fewer stacks of Splinters in larger quantities, but instead of that we're making a more drastic improvement. We will now vacuum up all the Breach Splinters dropped during a Breach encounter and drop them at your location when the Breach concludes. If you are in a party it will drop multiple stacks that are randomly allocated.

I still want the conclusion of PoE1 to be Zana showing back up and killing us stone dead for being retarded.

Zana being the undefeatable boss that basically kills us for being power hungry murderers would be pretty cool.

Some classic hype, promising. Most notably, some GGG employee made the effort to post that, not the faceless community account.

June 5th for the stream, 13th for release, Atlas rework I guess, plus Zana likely to be there with all the petals.
