A good resource to find those little economy holes (opportunities!) is:

and the specific example he gave highlighted -

the site pulls prices from poe.ninja and right now poe.ninja is fucking the price up because the actual trade site lists the boots as 5 divines just to start out. Dunno why poe.ninja is lagging so far behind.

PoE has become an "Eater's Game".

We have a guy who literally started playing PoE about 7 days ago. He just mastercrafted his 1000dps vaal axe, rolling his clusters, and has completed his atlas.

Another guy has probably 5k hours in this game, has played for a decade and is following the same build and needs his hand held every decision of every step of an already step-by-step builld 20% of the entire league is playing.

The difference is the first guy wants to dive into the game and get obsessed with it. He's a degen level gamer type gamer. The other guy wants to play the game and do everything he sees everyone else but doesn't want to work for it. He just complains every step and compares the build to every build he's ever played (which he also complained every step of the way) and how they were better (when he had 200 divines in gear vs his 7 divine investment).

At this point it's like any other highly technical hobby. You're going to have a good time at the beginning then hit a wall. Then you need to decide do you want to put in possibly considerable effort to enjoy it more at a higher end or is it not worth your time and you should just find a less time consuming hobby.

I just want to drop in here and say fuck you, because that second guy is me. Bye, have a good time!

Yep, me too ... and that's why I didn't roll a char this league.

When Settlers initially launched, I did get my LS Slayer to uber territory and killed all but Maven / Sirius, but I was waaaaaaay behind the curve. At least I hit level 100, but not doing that shit again.

I often wonder about this particular example, Xev, and what it says about games like POE. There are probably 10x the number of players that are your second example as compared to your first. If POE made itself a little more accessible to the second type of player then would they have an even greater market share and more players? I often think about the most time/fun I ever had in the game, which was the first league Harvest went core. I truly spent 4x the amount of time playing because I could truly craft whatever I wanted myself and it did not feel like a huge burden to get myself there. I understand that to the first type of person that it seems too easy; but when you are a company trying to make money from player retention then when do you just accept that the combined hours and money from player type 2 is more and easier to sustain than the same from player type 1?

That is what they want with PoE2. Aimed for players that dont have autism and play more of the game in some 3rd part app thats even harder to understand.

Hell I bet D4 makes much more cash from causals than PoE 1 and 2 combined.

I have friends that try explain stuff in PoE 1 but my brain just shuts down when I listen to them. Too much shit to think about.

But having multiple games for different types of players is probably better than trying to make one game cater to everyone.

You will never make more money playing the game than you would doing these weird flipping / finding economy imbalance strategies, sadly. To each their own, some people get a huge kick out of that, but i personally prefer just blasting. If I need a quick influx of currency there’s usually some day to night flip available (including temple vials) but it’s not the game I enjoy when I’m doing that.
right now been digging my eyes out hoping for a svalinn to drop. I’d say I’m 10-12 black knights in so I may have a very long time to go. Seeing that shit fall to the ground will make it all worth it. Or more likely i will just quick 200 hours later with nothing to show for it
