A good resource to find those little economy holes (opportunities!) is:

and the specific example he gave highlighted -

the site pulls prices from poe.ninja and right now poe.ninja is fucking the price up because the actual trade site lists the boots as 5 divines just to start out. Dunno why poe.ninja is lagging so far behind.

PoE has become an "Eater's Game".

We have a guy who literally started playing PoE about 7 days ago. He just mastercrafted his 1000dps vaal axe, rolling his clusters, and has completed his atlas.

Another guy has probably 5k hours in this game, has played for a decade and is following the same build and needs his hand held every decision of every step of an already step-by-step builld 20% of the entire league is playing.

The difference is the first guy wants to dive into the game and get obsessed with it. He's a degen level gamer type gamer. The other guy wants to play the game and do everything he sees everyone else but doesn't want to work for it. He just complains every step and compares the build to every build he's ever played (which he also complained every step of the way) and how they were better (when he had 200 divines in gear vs his 7 divine investment).

At this point it's like any other highly technical hobby. You're going to have a good time at the beginning then hit a wall. Then you need to decide do you want to put in possibly considerable effort to enjoy it more at a higher end or is it not worth your time and you should just find a less time consuming hobby.

Yep, me too ... and that's why I didn't roll a char this league.

When Settlers initially launched, I did get my LS Slayer to uber territory and killed all but Maven / Sirius, but I was waaaaaaay behind the curve. At least I hit level 100, but not doing that shit again.

I often wonder about this particular example, Xev, and what it says about games like POE. There are probably 10x the number of players that are your second example as compared to your first. If POE made itself a little more accessible to the second type of player then would they have an even greater market share and more players? I often think about the most time/fun I ever had in the game, which was the first league Harvest went core. I truly spent 4x the amount of time playing because I could truly craft whatever I wanted myself and it did not feel like a huge burden to get myself there. I understand that to the first type of person that it seems too easy; but when you are a company trying to make money from player retention then when do you just accept that the combined hours and money from player type 2 is more and easier to sustain than the same from player type 1?

That is what they want with PoE2. Aimed for players that dont have autism and play more of the game in some 3rd part app thats even harder to understand.

Hell I bet D4 makes much more cash from causals than PoE 1 and 2 combined.

I have friends that try explain stuff in PoE 1 but my brain just shuts down when I listen to them. Too much shit to think about.

But having multiple games for different types of players is probably better than trying to make one game cater to everyone.

You will never make more money playing the game than you would doing these weird flipping / finding economy imbalance strategies, sadly. To each their own, some people get a huge kick out of that, but i personally prefer just blasting. If I need a quick influx of currency there’s usually some day to night flip available (including temple vials) but it’s not the game I enjoy when I’m doing that.
right now been digging my eyes out hoping for a svalinn to drop. I’d say I’m 10-12 black knights in so I may have a very long time to go. Seeing that shit fall to the ground will make it all worth it. Or more likely i will just quick 200 hours later with nothing to show for it

The dumb economy game being the game is why I can’t come back for more than an odd league here and there.

It is dumb and does detract from the overall experience, especially when build enabling uniques are subject to supply and demand swings, scalpers, and price fixers.

That said, it isn't THE game. Once you're past the initial farming stage of gearing a character that can handle juicing T16(T16, not 16.5, not 17), the game is almost too rewarding. I've farmed up a mageblood in T16s the last two leagues. But that is also the only item I will put up with such monotony. I'm not playing a build that requires an expensive Sublime Vision or F&F.

Does anyone know if Destructive Play Silo was nerfed? I was regularly getting Maven chisels and even the occasional woke gem from the Destructive Play bosses. But now the only thing dropping are the (occasional) influenced map. I'm guessing woke gems and maven chisels won't drop either from the summoned bosses or maybe just map bosses in general (and those currencies are reserved for invitations?)

It's unchanged, you're just on a bad streak.

I have 40something maven chisels from destructive play farming on my one character

Might I interest you in some BETRAYAL
I don't know what it is but I haven't gotten any chisels in 2 days. When i started i was getting them every 5 to 10 maps. Got another woke gem so there's that. I'm about to try new syndicate out. How is it? I hear there's more options other then Grav farming. Is it pretty alch and go turn off brain?

Also I heard somebody say "I save my Kirac missions until I have 10 then I farm for harvest beasts". What could that be referencing? How do you mix Kirac and harvest beasts?

I price check my kirac reports and they almost all say 5c per. That's definitely higher than normal and I thought it was because of kirac memories being added to the pool. Put some up on a currency exchange and they won't move at 4c per. What's going on here? Seems like too common an item to be susceptible to price fixing.

Certain Kirac Missions have an enchantment/implicit "Areas can contain capturable harvest beasts"

and they have a ton of beasts more than normal, like 10-12 usually.

Just doing one randomly while trying to complete my atlas without any points specced into it, I got one beast worth a divine, and a couple more worth 30-40c.

One of my little private farms in prior leagues were the reverse incursion memory missions. You'd get four maps worth, each map had like 5 little Alva nodes and each node dropped 0-3 items with an Incursion mod. There's always a demand for solid gloves with Incursion mods and the memories were never above 10c. The version that got added to Kirac is so bad I'm confused. I've done half a dozen of them and the drops are all nerfed to hell. Few items, zero gloves, maybe a 50% chance of one Incursion item per nodes, just terrible.

Meanwhile the "this map contains larger plots" mission is so good it renders taking Harvest nodes at all completely pointless unless you're doing a full dedicated farming strat. If you just like having regular amounts of juice on hand for some resist flips and rolls/rerolls each mission yields 5k or so split between the colors. The capurable beast one is just free money. Harbinger has been ass and rogue exiles in essences has been ass.

Also not as big a driving force for the market, but the 40/40 requires you to do a Kirac mission of every type (or 8 of 10 or something) and it's getting about that time.

And there's the weirdos who still have Defiled Cathedral not unlocked running their stack of cards missions over and over hoping.
