Pet insurance is something I would recommend more based on the type of person you are rather than the dog. Are you the sort of person that can get slapped with a huge bill and not be phased. Most people just don’t operate like that. So having a monthly payment to hedge against the possibility of a bad situation makes a lot of sense.
At 13 you probably won’t qualify for anything meaningful though.
