There was a single case to update Part 1 from PS3 to something modern.. one single time. Every other release past that would be pointless.

Anyone had power supply issues after a minor adjustment? I've had this PS5 for Bout a year and until now I don't think I have fully lifted it off the table. I had lifted one end of the other to dust under it, and cleaned/compressed air the outside and vents etc... but about an hour ago I lifted it about 6-8 inches and it shut off. So I put it back in the same spot. And now it has crashed twice (about once an hour) crashed may be the wrong term, but it has lost power twice now. Only for a second, but it reboots the whole system.

That never happened until I attempted to move it (and I stopped after the first attempt)

Just picked up a PS5 Pro over the weekend. Got it setup as an "ultimate PS5" basically, Pro console with the disc drive and a 4TB high-performance M2 SSD. 6TB of storage combined!

Before I got this I have both a launch spec PS5 with a 2TB expansion and a 1TB Series X with a 2TB expansion. It's amazing how doubling that space gives me the same feeling I had when I had a PS3 or 360 with a 500GB hard drive, like having enough storage for me to download and install basically my entire digital library for a platform and still having some spare room after. I no joke downloaded every PS5 game I own on my PS5 Pro, and still had enough left over for me to download most of the games I got off PS+ as well. With 3TB it's like I had enough to have my favorite games installed but I had to still make some compromises deleting some stuff for newer games, having to look over my library, look over much space some games are taking up, needing to decide what to delete. Now it's like space is simply no longer a concern, it's just cool to know I can get any new game and easily have space for it.

Haven't spent a whole lot of time with it to really appreciate the improvements in graphics and performance, but did play a lot of GT7 and was very impressed by how good it looks. Like the differences aren't night and day but things just look more realistic. I've got a bunch of games to test out, and I think some definitely benefit from the Pro more than others. Like seeing NBA 2K25 on my standard PS5 then playing it on the Pro definitely makes a big difference. Then there's games like FC25, I didn't buy it, still got FC24 from PS+ that seems good enough to me, but I checked out a video of it on youtube as it's advertised as Pro enhanced, and the only difference it makes is during closeup camera events, the actual gameplay remains virtually unchanged. This doesn't surprise me though, and I have lots of games to check out that will hopefully make good use of what this console has to offer.

Three main reasons I did this really. First is the price hike on Xbox consoles, that made me think Sony might do a price hike on their consoles soon. Second is how I think this console generation will probably be the last one I will want to be a part of and buy into really, planning on going with a gaming PC for next gen, whenever that happens. Third is timing, I just really doubt we will see next gen anytime soon and I would like to enjoy the best of what this gen has to offer especially because I have already bought a bunch of games for these consoles.

i haven't touched my ps5 pro a lot since i bought it but kinda glad I did now, its gonna be good for at least 3-4 years and getting 40 FPS in VRR 120hz OLED is a nice compromise. When I absolutely do give a fuck about FPS i can play on my PC but sometimes its nice not giving a shit about nvidia drivers, windows updates, ultra wide, hackers/cheaters, etc

final fantasy 7 rebirth is gorgeous on Pro, GTA 6 next year will be the interesting one. I still think they may launch on PC but the fact that the latest trailer only says ps5/xbox probably means console 1 year exclusive again.

I’m so torn. I don’t need a PS5 Pro. My launch ps5 is fine, but I also don’t want to pay hundreds more in a year or 2 if I do decide I want one. Paying ~$800 for something I don’t really need is a tough pill to swallow. I really don’t want to pull the trigger but know I’ll be kicking myself down the road if I wait.

So guys how does AC: Valhalla compare to AC: Odyssey?

I had only ever played one of the original ACs back on a buddies PS3 for a bit and absolutely hated the control scheme* so never really got in to it. For the record the witcher III has the same problems, but I forgave it since the storyline was so good. But AC seemed dumb/not as involved and I really couldn't accept how shitty the movement was for what was, at the time, a stealth/platformer.

*too much inertia/forward momentum, you move like a fucking horse wearing roller skates, and the "adaptive/predictive" joy stick control is fucking aids. back means back but sometimes it means go forward if my camera is slightly facing that way but now it doesn't do that because i'm going down a ladder and why the fuck don't I have jump? I just have X and x sometimes does jump sometimes does tumble and sometimes does nothing all based on what the game thinks i'm trying to do contextually, its fucking aids. Yes i'm hanging on a cliff but i'm 0' above the ground, my feet are literally touching the ground. I want to go down. let go of the wall. let fucking go. WTF? Ok fine won't let me disengage or dodge off, let me jump. Fucking aids, why the fuck does jump have me doing a sommersault 30 feet the opposite direction and swan diving down the other side of the cliff 300 feet into the water? fuck....

Anyway it seems that by Odyssey at least (if not before, again I never really played this series) it became more of an open world RPG and they fixed most of the movement issues (except for the predictive joy stick movements, that gay shit is still in). if they just added a button that was always mapped to "let fucking go of the god damn wall you retard" then it would be perfect.

I mean not really, climbing is fucking retarded as shit. Like whats the point of putting so much vertical "obstacles" ie mountains and canyons and shit into the world? (climbing in the city to break into houses is fine for climbing) I can literally free climb everything from level 1 up sheer cliff faces? All vertical elevation in the open world is equivalent to fucking quick sand pits that just make me travel slower so that the world feels bigger, its fucking retarded.

Anyway I know that rant sounds like i hate the game but i'm actually quite enjoying it, and wondering if Valhalla is similar or improved or what? I think Valhalla came out after so hoping there are improvements, hopefully with the control scheme, or since it came out more recently does that mean its more woke and designed by more blue haired trannies or what?

If you enjoyed Odyssey, you’ll probably enjoy Valhalla, if you like the setting an equal (or more) amount. It’s the same slop different flavor.

i found odyssey more fun just cuz you get to sail around the greek islands circa 2000 BC fighting mythical monsters and i love greek lore whereas visiting british people in the 10th century is even more boring than visiting england in 2025

both are pretty immersive though and if you wanna waste 100 hours in a game its the usual ubisoft slop. bad story/characters, amazing attention to detail in visuals, geography, lore, etc. Both have huge DLCs too, odysseys DLC I really enjoyed since it deals with Atlantis

i also really liked Egypt so origins was great. The museum modes in these games is absolutely incredible too

What successful games as this lady even worked on at this point aside from early Assassin's Creed?
Nothing really, but I guess she's at least smart enough to realize that Fairgame$ is shaping up to be Concord 2.0. Better to abandon ship now before it's fully underwater.

Fairly uninteresting SoP today, except for two surprises:

Romeo Is A Dead Man (from the people that made Let It Die.. a game I loved).

Marvel Fighting Souls. Amazing win for the FGC.

Re-announcement of Pragmata which was teased around 5 years ago

Nioh 3 and FF Tactics

Would say it was the best State of play in a long time.

Marvel? With Asw eh? Well it’ll look nice anyway. 4 char teams is nutty. Wonder if capcom is pissed or overjoyed they don’t have to deal with Disney this time around.
