Sounds right. The manual will usually have that mapped out too.

oh yea i remember this tv, i helped a friend over the phone, i find out that earc is on hdmi 2,

Definitely not a cost effective solution and I feel like surround sound isn’t as big a deal to people nowadays with improved sound bar and/or headphones but I like it a lot. I’ve had zero luck selling my old 5.1. It could do 4k and HDR but didn’t pass through 120HZ at all without downgrading it to 60HZ. It’s about 6 years old though.

I will note that I picked this up on some sale they were running so I didn’t pay $750. I think it was only 600 or 650. Like that makes much difference.

I ended up going this route but I bought the Onkyo rz30. They go on sale regularly for $750. It did take some tweaking to get 120 passed through to the Xbox series x, but that’s about it.

Going from a sound bar to real speakers is pretty nice. I’ve spent the last year buying klippisch to series speakers on sale. Definitely not something to do on a small budget, but the sound is great.

I’ve just got a set of Harmon Kardon 5.1 on mine. I think that one I got is technically 7.1 and I’ll do that eventually but my speakers were pricey and still really good. Guess I could buy another satellite set. I also have an awkward geometry I’m working in which would probably mean some drywall to make it look good. Right now I have hidden cable guides.

I looked at the Onkyo too. I used an Onkyo for a long time before 4k etc showed up.

I use the Pioneer Elite version of that Onkyo. It's a great receiver and well worth the money if you need its features. The Onkyo version is the only option left though, since PAC dropped Pioneer after all the bankruptcy stuff was done and unless you buy used it's almost impossible to find Integra receivers other than the ultra high end these days too.

That said, anyone looking for a budget receiver or just something for a small room, take a look at the Yamaha RX-V4A. Can't beat it for the price (~$425 from Amazon or Best Buy) if all you need is 5.2 surround at most. Plus it supports wireless speakers for the rear channel if you don't feel like running speaker wire all over your room.

I looked at Denon, Onkyo and Yamaha models at the same price point and they all looked good, and had good reviews. I chose the Onkyo because it included Dirac basic with the unit(they offer to sell the sub module for 300ish). I’ve used it every time I add speakers, without the sub module, and it’s been good enough for me.
Right I have a 5.1.2 atmos speaker setup, but once I get the rear surrounds on my list, it’s I’ll be at 7.1.2, which is my goal.

What's eARC? I'm out driving right now but yeah I think I remember seeing the label back there.

I googled it earlier and it said that all of the LG C1's HDMI ports are 2.1, but I don't remember that being the case when I bought it...also it says there are four HDMI ports, but there are only three that I know of (it's a 65 inch). So uh

earc is where you plug your 5.1/7.1 all in one sound system into so that no matter the source (hdmi 1/3/4) it will play audio out from there and also allow universal control

usually it should just be hdmi1
