Looks like her pops is on the "climate change" gravy train too, lol. These fucking people. Why dont you go pick some garbage up in your country first before traveling the globe preaching how we should do the same.

I think a lot of these globe trotting commie climate activists are sponsored by the Chinese to wreck western Industries.

Took 8 days for a perfect alien organism to realize it wanted nothing to do with a college educated white woman.

It has to be 40k Corpse Starch or something. It would also lean into the alien aspect as they are utilitarian and just need nutrients. Personal tastes are irrelevant.

Soylent Green is people, obviously

Yeah soylent amber lol

Im glad I was right and they addressed the food problem, even though it is just a hand wave magic powder. like I said I hadn't even considered cannibalism at first but, makes sense.

They'd still run out of food of course and all starve to death, but clearly they arent going for realism. Like wolves scavenging graves at week 1? There's still an entire city worth of cats and dogs they'd have been eating, not to mention all live stock/domesticated animals that can't survive in the wild. Maybe they are foreshadowing that the food situation is actually more dire than even I suggested. And evacuating the city of all personnel but still having an functioning energy grid? These are minor squabbles of course and not nearly as huge a plot holes as the food problem.

Clearly they have a specific goal in mind. Maybe it is just re-propogating the signal and there is no longer term goal, maybe it's something else

You seem to misunderstand what "intentionally" means, and are determined to use as many words as possible to demonstrate that.
Bandwagon Bandwagon 's balls! Or whatever hill Sylas Sylas is trying to die on. 😁
You hippy faggots who think food comes from the grocery store are delusional as fuck and that's a hill I'll gladly die on.

Internet retards can never admit when they are wrong so just keep doubling down and I was bored so I dont mind schooling them. Sorry I was traveling for the holidays or I would of shit all over these posts earlier.

Few facts:
1) Living in the west and seeing EBT Americans on electric scooters raiding the local Walmart might leave you believing we produce an excess over abundance of food, as a species. We do not. As a species, on the macro level, our ability to produce food and our population totals are in exact equilibrium. Every breakthrough that increases crop yield or every mutant chicken breed we make that's cancer releases nonstop growth hormone allowing us to go from egg to slaughtering for meat at 6 weeks (despite the bird still being pre-pubescent junvenile), everything we do to increase food output results in population increases, more mouths to feed. Any decrease in food production directly and unequivocally results in famine and starvation by the same ratio as the reduction.

2) animal, animal by products, and derivatives are 20-25% of global calories, that kills 25% of the population off the rip.

3) pesticides, insecticides, fungicides, etc are responsible for about 50% of crop yields globally so cut remaining food available in half (37.5%)

4) some of you retards dont seem to understand what pesticides are. Hint the root of the word gives it away. You seem to think they are like Off! Mosquito repellent, like it keeps bugs away from plants, like the smell or the chemical makes plants taste bad so bugs avoid them?
Wrong. It is actually like raid, insect killer. They are poison, designed to kill insects, larva, their eggs, etc. It is sprayed onto the bugs that are eating the plants specifically to kill the bugs. Your argument that the hive could use pesticides because its not "intentionally killing", rofl. That's like arguing that you could walk into a crowded theater and spray machine gun fire into the crowd but as long a you had your eyes closed its not "intentionally killing" because you are just spraying, its not your fault people are in there watching a movie.

5) 50-60% of fertilizer used world wide is animal based (live stock manure and bird/bat feces, etc) so that's gone now too (let's round to 50%, so we're now at ~18% total food production).

6) large scale mechanized farm equipment kills millions of wild animals, and avoiding those animals means hand farming/gathering, further reducing efficiency and giving up arable land over to bunnies and rats and snakes etc.

The obvious and undeniable conclusion is the hive mind as presented in this show following these rules would lead to the immediate collapse of the global food chain and kill off virtually the entirety of the human race.

i believe the showrunner isnt retarded thus he understands this plot hole, and the latest episode seems to confirm and address it.

Im not about to google the calorie content of a human cadaver, dont want to be on that watch list or have the algorithm think that im into that shit. It's a bit of a hand wave but turning all edible biomass including human corpses into a powder for consumption is a handwave ill accept.

yeah vince gilligan said he originally came up with the show with a male lead but realized the show would just basically be a porno for the first season so switched it to a woman lol

i find the mexican storage unit guy way more interesting than carol, whole episode i kept wondering what he is up to

im honestly not going to rewatch, but the radio shit was amatuer bands. he either has experience in vince's world or was quickly able to pick it up. the age / setup puts it more in line with a hobbyist already.

it was close enough to assume he was trying to communicate with any other human out there. this is basically the default that humans go back to in emergency situations when trying to communicate. HF waves. You do not need a lot of power to communicate across the world.

this individual would 100% fully understand the hivemind can listen to him. i believe the scene was to indicate to him, a non english speaker, there is another human out there trying to communicate with him.

he probably sees her as infected (not tranmissible)/trick/whatever.

wrong yet again about pretty much everything you just said.

Just because fruits and vegetables don't end up in your grocery store doesn't mean it is thrown away, it ends up in processed food and all the barely edible scraps end up in dog food or as livestock feed. inedible shit ends up as compost/fertilizer. Shit only goes to waste due to bureaucratic incompetence like california and their retarded laws letting vegetables rot at transit stations.

some projects i cannot tell if i am at a oil plant or a food plant if i am not playing close enough attention.

scary thought. i was somewhere a month ago trying to fix a hamstrung project and i'm use to "turnover" projects for oil and gas.

nope. processed a chemical for something we all eat.

This all assumes that all life in the universe is governed by nucleotide RNA sequences (which there are strong arguments for that I won't shit up the thread with) and they can locate another life bearing world (which we are getting pretty close to that in the modern world). But if we want to treat this as completely grounded in science, the food logistics problem is real. Even a hiccup in supply will result in a ton of starvation, so they are likely going to do some sort of big draw down to whatever they need to physically build Hive Radio 2.0 and sustain themselves. That is unless they really just want to send a "come pick up resources" signal back home, which seems more likely.

Also bear in mind that any transmitter would likely have to be in orbit with something resembling a geostatic rotation. It makes no sense to try and overcome the atmospheric and magnetospheric interference, for one. And if you put the thing on the surface even with sufficient power, you won't get a signal out to a target except for the millisecond window where your planetary rotation aligns with the target especially given the fact that the target itself is moving in an orbit of its own constantly. If you are talking something omnidirectional with the kind of range they are talking about, then we are into post Star Trek power sources and transmitter materials made of unobtainium that don't immediately melt the moment you pump that much power through them. And you are also still talking a space based transmitter because trying to sent a signal through the planet core is not going to fly and pushing one out of that intensity will potentially fry life in the general vicinity and certainly knock a nice big hole in the planetary magnetic field. Remember they specifically used radio, probably because its a signal less advanced civilizations would have access and monitor. Especially the kind of retarded civilizations that recreate alien RNA sequences from outer space in relatively unsecure labs near major population centers instead of an Antarctic base they can nuke if anything goes sideways, which is probably the most scientific plausible thing about the show (our stupidity).

So yeah, don't try to treat this show like it is hard science based. Its a psych study of an angry suburban Karen box muncher with a sci-fi backdrop. On that basis, its actually pretty good.
yeah faraday cages ruin that entire transmission concept entirely, although it was clearly the source vector propagation...or at least the recipe for it.

i fully believe this hivemind has killed and can. they talk about having to deal with the military early on.

They showed how they deal with the military.

They kiss them.

This show pays almost no attention whatsoever to the origin of the hivemind. Carol is trying to investigate the hivemind itself and that's a major plotline but the "where did this come from and how did it get into that lab rat" is not even on the radar of what the show is trying to convey. Which is kind of odd.
