have they secretly been sitting in camo in the background quietly maintaining the city and just pretending to be avoiding Carol because their feelings were hurt? the big huff n puff with them all loading up every single person and driving away in unison was just them being dramatic?? They're hiding in the bushes or something and they just wanted to show off their delivery drone flying skills?

Actually, that one kind of checks out, given the unreasonably fast drone response times ;p

i like how after 46 days, and having only met her for a day or 2, the 11 others that skype semi reguarly haven't once reached out to say

"does anyone want to include carol"?
They talked about that in the Vegas episode. They hate her and don't want her included.

As for quick response times they have indicated many times they are watching the 13 via military drones and stuff at all times pretty much.

I'm responding to your statement that "shit stops working in 2-3 days" in regards to infrastructure. Does the US infrastructure run via Albuquerque? Or do you think roughly 1,000 or so people would cut it for a city such as ABQ? It was probably even less, but Carol is a cunt who wants power on in the "whole town". And in a city the size of ABQ, maybe.. just maybe Carol would have very little chance of running into them, especially if they only stay on-site at all times and do their weird alien shit when she's asleep?

EDIT: Now that I think about it, it's probably way fucking less even with Carol being a cunt. Since they aren't having to run television/cable services, radio, etc. And they also operate at ultra efficiency so you wouldn't have all the usual waste you get with government employees.

The drones they use have a top speed of 40mph - they have to be pretty close to get anything to her inside an hour, let alone a specific flavor of gatorade.

I was mostly joking though, it could actually take hours for the drones to get to her, it's not like you'd film that.

they know where she is 24/7, im sure they have teams in the area ready to supply her with anything she needs, including maintaining the city's infrastructure. They probably gtfo when she's in her car, moving in their direction.

Goddammit are you dense. The abq infrastructure runs via abq, who the fuck said anything about the US? Take the dick out of your mouth every once in a while so you can pay attention to the conversation that you are blindly replying to.

The drone thing yeah, if the show was going for any sort of realism then yes, there probably would be a team of people who follow her around hiding in the bushes waiting on her hand and foot unbeknownst to her. but from the shows own narrative structure we know that isn't true. They have completely abandoned her to the city alone by herself, and everything just magically works without any maintainance and drones can deliver anything to her in minutes.

That is my gripe with the show, they rely on an extremely thin veneer of realism but then establish completely illogical and contradictory conditions purely to serve the narrative at that moment regardless of plot holes or logical fallacies introduced.

It would have been better had it just been *magic* that lets you ignore or handwave it all away. No space signal, no virus. Some kid exploring Machu pichu or some shit discovers some golden idol or dusty old tome and boom, the world's been ensorcelled by some ancient spell or curse and now everyone is a slave to the few descendants marked by god to not be cursed.

I enjoyed the last episode. Anyone not buckled up and ready for long drawn out episodes as a core part of the show isn't paying attention.

I would've enjoyed if the entire episode was Manousos driving through South America and ending at the Darien Gap. I knew the Darien Gap was going to be a total slog but I agree with Sylas Sylas that the Darien Gap was kinda inaccurate. There's no road but you can just follow the trail of garbage left by the millions of migrants that are currently getting free food, housing and healthcare in the US.

Carol's journey was also interesting in its own way. An insufferable character who pretends not to need anyone is being forced to realize how dependont on others she is at every turn. I don't know what kind of character growth she'll go through or arc she'll take next, but I'm totally interested to see how it unfolds.

Prediction time:
  1. The show is set up to have three saviors with conflicting paths:
    1. Carol: Who wants to undo the Cuck Ray for everyone
    2. Diabete: Who wants to keep the population cucked, but will help some of them survive
    3. Manousos: Who will want to kill everyone who is infected
  2. All the immune who get converted will be turned into something else, halfway between hive and free. This will be useful for the other immune to help the hive, including characters we haven't seen yet they'll introduce in season 2 and 3, but Carol and Diabete won't go that route.
  3. Manousos, who is shown to be pure of mind and has an unbending will, gets converted without his consent as he is being medically treated, but will break free and enact a plan to kill the Plurbs in some way
  4. When Manousos and Carol finally meet, he will be revolted by how she is getting carried by the Plurbs, they can't cooperate because she would immediately move into his shadow since she is flawed and he is not. This will lead to him being a major antagonist, and also some character development from Carol, not to become more self-sufficient, but to recognize and accept who she is and not be such a bitch about it.

Contrast with Manousas who is hostile to the hive completely, totally independent and competent, manages to make it 3k miles and 90% of the way through the darien gap completely on his own, intentionally avoiding any and all assistance from the hive then he slips up in the most ridiculous way possible doing his best 3 stooges impression and ends up almost dying alone in the woods only to be rescued by the hive due to his incompetence.
If the writer needed to halt Manousos, what better way than to show the effect of dehydration in an inhospitable terrain using the unique features? It did exactly what it needed to, get him to take help from the Hive and possibly incapacitate him for them to attempt conversion. These kinds of dumb mistakes happen when you're exhausted and dehydrated. It reminds me of the one Survivor season I watched where the top competitor (a fellow Michigander who lives near me, btw) who was carrying his team the entire time just kinda, passed out into a fire and ended his time in the competition.

The tree exists, he had to halt his journey and end up getting medivac'd, might as well use what's available.

I'd rather see that then him break his leg falling on those rocks or whatever.

You're assuming:
  • They abandoned ABQ, rather than just pulling out a majority of its population
  • They aren't literally following her around with a convoy of trucks with random shit she likes, all while the entire planet is basically starving to death. While basically doing something similar for 12 others for reasons unknown to the viewer.
  • They aren't just using the solar/wind power generation in ABQ to just keep the lights on

You make a lot of assumptions, then get mad when those assumptions aren't true and say the show is dumb. The show has clearly stated the Plurbs will move heaven and earth for the immune, there's nothing they've shown that is inconsistent.

Especially when the show SPECIFICALLY went through sequences to show you how goddamn efficient their logistics are now. But instead, he keeps assuming they all just disappeared into the ether where they perv on Carol 24/7.

Obviously the show is taking some liberties here and there with some things. But at least it has been very internally consistent with many of the issues this guy keeps reeeeing about.

I was going to nitpick how they jumped ahead like a month and no cars or store windows have dust or dirt on them? (Not to mention street weeds, general growth now that no one is trimming)
Living in Vegas for many years, my car was screwed 2 days after every wash. (!@$ you Desert sand)

I would have let that slide if everyone was still in town....damn...I need to stop drinking and complaining in like several threads.

Might want to reread my posts since I explicitly stated I *didn't* want to get in the weeds on this and my problem with the show is not that they get all this stuff wrong (which they absolutely are getting it all wrong) it's that they bothered to get into the weeds trying to pseudo-explain it to begin with to then just ignore all the logical fallacies and contradictions that that creates.

I would be fine if the show was more vague, more mystery, and required you the viewer to make assumptions, which then turn out to be right or wrong, but that's not what the show is doing. The show is stating how it is, they are establishing rules, and then they are ignoring their own rules or the logical result of said rules for narrative reasons.

For the record, you clearly have no idea how electricity even works if you think "oh they just use solar" solves any of the problems of load balancing a cities worth of electrical generation on the whims of a single occupant. It requires maintenance, labor, and oversight of hundreds if not thousands of people to keep that cities energy grid running, and power isn't even the worst of it. Water would be the first system to collapse without people to maintain it out in the desert and all.

So no, i'm not making any assumptions. they stated and showed explicitly that they abandoned the city. Per the writers of the show, they abandoned the city to Carol. Now, anyone with 2 brain cells realizes this can't actually be true, there would have to be people to maintain the city or it would collapse, as well as people on hand to deliver her things. That is the assumption, a logical leap that you the viewer (who is not retarded) must make to explain away the plothole that the show's own narrative created. That's my problem, we have to make excuses because they are getting basic facts wrong.

I'll once again point to the wolves from episode 2, 3? First week since the conversion and they were scavenging trash and trying to dig up helen's corpse for food. This was a narrative choice, not a realistic, logical outcome. Wolves avoid people, especially with an entire city of cats and doodles and newly released and no longer protected live stock to feast upon, there is no way that the wolves just happen to intentionally go and attack the only person in the city who still has their fucking lights on at their house. That scene made no logical sense, It was simply foreshadowing that the hive was scavenging the dead and eating people.

So the wolves aren't actually scavenging, you just have to pretend that scene didn't actually happen *in the world* , it was a dream, just setup for an episode cliffhanger + later reveal. Because otherwise, where are the wolves now? They spent an entire episode following Carol as she went about her life *completely alone* in ABQ, the weeds are growing in the golf courses because no one is maintaining the lawns, bunny rabbits are just out and about living their best life. Buffalo are free grazing by hole 9. No fear of humans (they haven't seen any in weeks, Carol is the only person in the city) No wolves, no predators of any kind it seems. Those wolves were just a narrative device, they weren't real, the same way this entire episode pretty much confirms it with their "nature is healing" and society is falling apart without the Hive motiff.

Again they are showing us that the city is not being maintained at all by anyone, it's just Carol, she almost burns down her neighbor's house, her car breaks down and she abandons it for another vehicle because she doesn't know how to fix anything. she's bored as fuck just knocking out windows from office buildings with her golf clubs. It's full own urban decay, no one is helping her, they aren't hiding in the bushes coming out to save her or fix her mistakes, they aren't maintaining shit. That is what is being stated, conveyed, and symbolized. That is the show's narrative.

the problem is that obviously doesn't making any fucking sense, you just have to ignore it. Just like the food. They have, at most, by the shows own admission, 3 months of food. we've just time skipped to day 46 so less than half of that now. Will they address the fact that by week 10 about 7 billion of the 7.3 billion survivors will begin to starve to death? I mean once they have 7 billion more corpses the remaining population can survive a further 6 months with their magic powder drink being 95% HDP and 5% apples they found on the ground but by month 10 the only pockets of humanity will be small enclaves living in jungles with an abundant natural food sources that falls out of trees.

The answer, of course, is "don't think about" And my only problem with that is "Then why the fuck did you even bring it up, then?"

the show lacks internal consistency with the rules it establishes for itself. I had high hopes initially but they keep stepping on their dick. Earlier I dismissed the whole "Surprise, we could lie the entire time, we just chose to wait 3 seasons until this exact moment to reveal to you that we've been lying all this time, because we needed to in order to get out of this conundrum that the writers put us in" but I actually think that's back on the table.

You may as well be arguing that the guy playing poker against Diabate wasn't playing realistically. The plurbs will do anything to keep a charade up for an uninfected.

Hes 110% sperg, but how do you figure they didn’t explicitly abandon the city? There was a scene where carol is looking out at highways as the last of giant caravans of vehicles all head away from the city on multiple highways in multiple directions.
