This show isn't good enough to care about 3 years from now.

How the fuck can it take so long to make a show where 80%+ of it is a few people in isolated locations either alone or on small groups?
pretty sure they "bought" or made thatentire cul de sac so they could film wo disturbing regular ppls homes, more than half the episodes is just carol being a dreadful lesbo at home

They built the cul de sac yes its not real, some of the interior of carols home is also recreated on a sound stage but lots of filming is in the fake cul de sac.

Stop buying the lies about Vince being slow or that his process is slow, its bullshit.

He had written the first 2 episodes completed scripts before he showed it to rhea, the first person he told about the show, after she signed on he then shared it with his producer buddies and they started putting the show together. Season 2 is already written the whole arc of the show is already outlined and the story boards for all seasons 3-4/5 are already done. If they wanted to they could spend the next year filming seasons 2-5 and release a season annually or even every 6 months like clockwork.

They are pretending that they didnt write season 2 yet even though apple already ordered 2 seasons out the gate to excuse the delay between seasons which is intentional streaming fuckery

They built is so people wouldn't turn Carols house into a tourist attraction like Walters house in Breaking Bad which has made owning the house impossible. Its a fake cul-de-sac

Pluribus was greenlit by Apple in early 2022, filming didn't start till 2024 (writers strike hurt it by 6-9 months) and it still took over a year after filming to release it. Hopefully it can go faster and maybe he is just being coy in a Scotty from Trek way, but wouldn't be surprised if the writers room started writing season 2 six months ago but still needs another 6-9 months, then 6-9 months of filming, then 12-15 months of post production.

all for just 8 hours of content. But they take their time, like I think the editor on the podcast mentioned just the 10 minute of the normies eating lunch scene in episode 2 had over 20 hours of film to cut/edit.

What a fucking mess. I don't care how great a showrunner Vince is, how can you spend 20 hours on a 10 minute scene that did not reveal anything astounding about the story or characters? It sounds like someone lost in hubris.

its stupid masterbation like this that makes a show shit, does severence really need to make that guy run so crazy, he sat down and studied tom cruise running, and it took multiple locations, and 5months to film 2minutes

i assume, it was meant to showcase fx and get an award no one gives a shit about

The location shooting is part of the logistical challenges of this show, too, I have to imagine. Stupid overly elaborate sets that need to be built for one time throw away scenes not only drive production costs up, but they consume valuable time. Slow Horses, which has a larger cast, action setpieces, and a more complete script manages to crank out two seasons a year. I fundementally like this show, but this is absolutely streaming fuckery, directors dicking around at the bear minimum. In three years I won't give a fuck about this either and as good as it has been, it is not worth a rewatch. Nine fucking episodes, they end with THAT cliffhanger, and now we are basically being made to wait until AOC gets sworn in as POTUS before we see resolution? Yeah, fuck off.

As for the show itself, I wonder what the reaction will be from all the lefties jizzing themselves over angry lesbian led show when they realize the entire backdrop is how you can destroy an entire civilization by turning the Empathy dials up to 11? The communism subtle parallels are amusing too, and my one left leaning friend got pretty salty when I pointed them out. Specifically collective hive in total peace that sleeps on the floor, is slowly starving to death, has no artistic creativity of its own, and only goals seem to be to convert everyone to this miserable state. And of course negative emotions literally kill them. Yeah this show is basically Toxic Empathy the series.

Well they have to go through every minute of footage and multiple takes of it. Then if the director/show runner isn't there they have to be happy with it. Editing is a very slow process.

Speaking of empathy, it feels like the key to the hive mind is the effect certain stress responses have on it, which means adrenaline and cortisol are probably disrupting the hive mind to a degree.

It’s also interesting that these responses seem to only come from humans displaying anger. One episode referenced how tigers/lions in zoos killed some hive people releasing them from cages, for example. You’d figure a predator mauling people would trigger a primal flight or fight response, but it doesn’t seem to have had the same impact as Carol screaming at hive people. That seems to suggest that the hive mind only seems to perceive other non-joined humans as a threat

The way I took that is that they can deal with most types of conflict but the aggressive not hive based human emotion part of it they can't. Which makes sense since it's supposed to be a collective.

Ultimately they need to start asking some questions like: what are your plans after the transmitter is built and broadcasts? Do you plan to perpetuate the species with sexual reproduction? What is your long term plan for a sustainable human population?

If they refuse to answer, or have no plans, then this is 100% just an extraterrestrial weapon of extinction

But they won’t because they’ll just drag out the mystery Lost style

The question for me is what the point of those scenes are. As they're saying below I think, if the scene revealed something important or drove the story forward in some important way I could see spending the time on it. But 95% of scenes in Pluribus were just navel-gazing that doesn't go anywhere, so why?

Same as in Severance, why did we need the like 3 minute long choreographed dance scene that didn't advance the story at all or do anything?

Can they cut this bullshit and add more scenes that advance the story?

They really cut Milchick's balls off in season two. In season one he was riding the line between menacing and disarming without every going too far in either direction. Season 2 everyone gets the better of him time and time again.

Can they cut this bullshit and add more scenes that advance the story?

Cad confirmed plotfag.

Vince has worked on a number of shows that all had to deliver on a deadline season after season. He's going to take his sweet ass time with this one because he can. I do think this is really a bad show to do that with though. If you want to tell a story that's slow and stuffed to the gills with artful camera work you're doing it a disservice by dragging your ass in between seasons.
