Sounds like bullshit. They say that training a Vaporeon against electric attacks will make it like you less but there's no metric in game for pokemon happiness. Stated as fact with zero supporting evidence.

That article is entirely bullshit other than the Eevee naming easter egg. EVs are stat boosts on gameboy, eg fighting a pikachu gives +1 speed on next level up to a certain limit. You've NEVER been able to develop resists, only defence boosts via EVs.
It would be easy to confirm EVs being in game as power boosts always give the same CP each time. I don't think they are in.
IVs are random variation in stats on gameboy. This is also easy to test by getting two identical pokemon to max power boost level, these could be in?

What's fascinating is that from that post the game transmits the GPS location of all the pokemon near you, which is asinine and opens the game up to maphacking very easily. It's also surprising because when you're out collecting you can run to where you know the pokemon is, but it still takes ~10s for it to spawn after you stop. I assumed this meant that your device doesn't know a pokemon is near you until you are at 0 footsteps.
I have to imagine they'll patch the game to only show locations of pokemon within 0 footsteps, but who knows. These things don't get patched until they're widely abused and they have so much bigger problems it could be months.

Just got back from a pokemon excursion. Am jogging with my toddler in a jogging stroller. I see a couple with one of these furballs near them:
Notice it's not on a leash. Keep jogging and ignoring it. Thinking, "Please don't charge at me, please don't charge at me, please don't..."
Dog charges. No barking, just charging.
I look at the couple, they're just standing there.
When the dog gets close I jump in front of the stroller, grab dog by nape, lift it up one armed away from me. It starts trying to bite, then starts yelping. Couple says nothing. I say, "Sorry for scaring you, I'm not going to let dogs charge my kid.". I keep jogging. Couple says nothing.
I get to park to let kid play and me to catch breath because I'm fat. The dog's actual owner (not part of the couple pulls up) and scolds me for touching her blind dog. I tell her I'm going to do the same thing to every random dog that charges my kid without a leash. We converse and part semi-amicably.
I have a route that is within 50ft of 1 mile in my neighborhood, when the servers are doing well I get 0.8 miles jog/walking it.

I think it's more server issues than GPS fidelity. Your GPS probably has an accuracy within 10 meters (which is really bad, the GPS I use at work can get to 1CM accuracy with RTK correction) which would make it trivial to get a route length estimate that matches what you'd throw into google maps.
