I could see this work if they were all at Starfleet. Not sure about being on a ship, unless they got lost going home.
TNG was one of the best Star Treks for me. Kirk and Spock era was best but it didn't age well on the limited effects and budgets they had back then.

You jabronis are going to be so triggered when the story is CAPTAIN Wesley Crusher on the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-Rainbow cruising the alpha quadrant spreading the message of love and peace with his husband, the first officer Jamal Ali X. They no longer use phasers but love beams and instead of photon/quantum torpedoes they fire peace pills.

This has a 64% chance of being true and 87% chance this is an Orville spinoff.
