Last episode of season 2 sucked balls. Why would we care about Spear's daughter who he never met or trained? He was brutal and pragmatic which made him a great fit with Fang. The mom was shown as intelligent but also very hesitant to be as brutal as the world demanded. If it wants to be true to the series it would have to be the kid wanting to go back to where Spear is from, finding other neandertals, and learning how to live like they did. Anything else would just be like Meet the Croods 3 but with blood.

Maybe we are all wrong and it is going to be a whole different story with a new focus and all new characters. That would make me very happy.
