Just this thread being here is the cat is out of the bag. Secrets is shaking in his boots. THJ is much better than EQL despite the AA hellhole of Necropolis.

Yes and no. Secrets might see this and might not. Going to bet it becomes an issue if EQL starts dying off though.

AFAIK, no emu has been shut down by DBG, aside from THJ. And that was because they monetized.

As long as this one doesn't monetize I'm sure it will be fine.

If you played THJ, I don't really see how this is all that interesting, especially if they don't plan on adding anything post PoP (which I doubt they do).

I agree, but whether he reprises his role of Judas or not is a variable. He is not a direct DBG employee, and may not be required to disclose automatically. OTOH, it may be to his advantage to keep this card hidden until needed if EQL starts to tank.

Agree on AA hellholes.

I loved my THJ experience with the exception of being funneled into 2 zones to efficiently grind AA.

1) Umbral Planes AFK with a pet equipped with that mega AE sword that grabs mobs from miles away was the easiest.
2) DN for everyone else without pets.

I'd love to give this a play, but I can't be bothered getting stuck for a couple thousand AA in those boring ass zones.

Dude how long have you been following the EQ emu community that is basically Secrets MO for decades lol

Also it has been a dream of his to work for EQ / DBG so I’m sure he will try to act like an employee even if he isn’t

All these new styles of EQ are fine and all, but I remember how much I liked playing Shards of Dalaya. That was EQ at its core, but set up completely differently. Zones didn't connect the way they did in Live. Completely different naming structure. It was a very familiar yet new game. Good stuff. I wonder if it's still going?

Anyone have a guide to where the runestone waypoints are located ? I think the one I used got shut down, figure it is a long shot at this point but doesn't hurt to ask.

Its right on their web site, world, waypoints. Click on the one you want, then at bottom of page it will take you to a map showing where it is.

No its not an AA, and maybe someone else can confirm, but I specifically played ROG/SHM/SK and what I remember is backstabbing with other weapons. Maybe not 1HB, but definitely 1hs and 2hs


On The Hero's Journey (THJ) style custom EverQuest servers, you can backstab with any weapon, but weapons lacking a specific backstab damage bonus or modifier deal significantly reduced or penalty damage. Furthermore, you can place a designated backstab weapon into an "any" inventory slot to retain your primary and secondary weapon choices while still executing the ability. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Weapon Backstab Rules
    • Any Weapon Works: The skill is not strictly locked to daggers or piercing weapons for functionality.
    • Damage Modifiers: Rogue-only and specific piercing weapons feature hidden or explicit backstab damage bonuses.
    • The "Any" Slot Trick: You can equip a high-modifier backstab weapon in an open inventory/any slot rather than your main-hand to fire off attacks with other weapon types. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

If it is same as THJ was then you can just use your normal backstab with any weapon, doesn't matter weapon type, even two handed. However there is a damage penalty for 2 handed and rogue only daggers get a really big backstab damage bonus making them worth using as a primary.

Well this is wrong too, because you didnt have to equip a backstab weapon with backstab bonus in a primary slot. It was ANY weapon slot.
