Push mowers

So got burned on 2 used mowers. First not really a scam, it just was a really old 2 stroke and kinda was giving up the ghost by year 2. Pretty anemic, was good if it was an old man (lightweight) mowing just a tiny yard. 2nd one died on 2nd mow and blew up lost compression. I bet if I open it up has some RTV sealant or some shit on it, fucking paki or whatever he was.

In my case, have a 60" zero turn for most of the property, but I have a maybe 75 foot ditch in front of my fence along the road way that is too steep and the zero turn gouges the shit out of it getting semi stuck trying to turn or escape it, as well as a number of smaller shrubs around the house and things like that a smaller push mower would be better for getting into. If it was soley the house I'd just use the string trimmer as much as I loathe them fighting the auto dispense and constantly replacing because I eat it up quick trying to do my fence lines in some areas.

Lowes had some house brand garbage and 2 driven Toro recyclers. I was under impression toro might have gone to shit, and being in a big box store doesn't help. $4 fucking 50 to boot. Then a huge line of electric mowers. I dont really trust them, but then again I do have a fairly small use. Battery of course, no wired. Any experience with them, or stick to gas? I'd love something that took straight gas as I prefer oil changes to mixing fuel.

buy an electric if you already have the battery eco system

sounds like you want a 2wd or awd mower to go up and down that ditch either way, at that price point gas and electric is almost equal

you don't even have dewalt drills?
The ditch is easily managed as long as it's not an extra heavy mower just fine since you are running strips parallel.

Didnt think it would run off the much smaller drill batteries etc, think they only carried ego anyways.

My battery tools are mostly all bauer though I have older corded dewalts and stuff.

I bought a Honda Buffalo HRsomething about 15 years ago, maybe more for about $800AUD, pretty expensive. It's started first or second pull every time, up until a 3 years ago when it started surging alot, I ignored it for awhile but eventually decided to give it a service. I bought a new fuel pump/filter, new plugs and a filter. Did the 20 minutes of work on it, and changed the blades. I had neglected the shit out of this mower. Since then it's been as good as when I first got it. S+ would buy a Honda mower again.

If you have need of a string trimmer, get a PivoTrim head replacement for it or one of the knock offs. It will change your perspective on string trimmers.

I think my current one is made by Gator or some similar name and has a 4-way head. Use .095 string. Can keep precut lengths in your pocket and replenish in 10 seconds when you finally wear one down but they cut until the very end. They are also much easier on things you bump into as the swivel action dissipates a good amount of the energy, saving the string too.

You're sort of out of the normal time range to get deals on mowers. Best I could come up with is this:

This thing might be what the doctor ordered since you're not in a battery ecosystem. Normally I'd avoid something with such a narrow deck, but for your application it might be about perfect. It'll probably last you a couple of seasons with zero maintenance and buy you time for a name brand electric to go on sale. I see no value in gas for what you're doing, the electric will be so much lighter, quieter, and you're not going to need more than a battery's worth of work from the sound of it.

I can almost guarantee you'll love it, so, when you do transition to another and buy into an ecosystem, I'd either buy an Ego on the high end or Ryobi on the low end. Both have a good variety of high quality tools and they haven't fucked around too much and stuck with a single type of battery. (Greenworks has at least 4 different voltage lines now, fuck them)

Was looking at this, seems to be last gen possibly mass imported at a discount. I don't bag so discharge is nice

Not bad, it's although it looks like they're not selling the batteries along with it. I'm slightly leery of a solution that series's batteries together, but at least it's a big brand. If you already had a bunch of dewalt tools and 20v xr batteries, I'd say it's a no brainer. I wouldn't trust the Chinesium knock off batteries and charger to last, so, factor in legit batteries/charger for a long term solution (I wouldn't buy their junk).

I'd consider this if you went that route so you would have a warranty and way better batteries:

the most important review when you goto a higher cost electic mower is the

POWER!!!

i checked reviews on my ryobi and didn't see a power issue and since having it, since i moved here (i even have a spare sent to me for free, even tho i just want the free batteries, which they didn't include) is that it never loses power, it has auto sensing so it will rampup the motor if it senses resistance (thick grass)

other than that i don't know the new mowers out, i've seen 60v and 80v, that sounds crazy for a walk behind.
