I actually enjoy old Shatner though. Spock got weirder the older he got. I actually read one of his chapbooks. It was... very hippy. I don't think it was bad. I don't remember it being horrible. I just remember it being like, "Woah. How much LDS did he do in the 60's?"
He doesn't seem like the sort of person that enjoys banging mormons - just my take on it though.

On a serious note, that sucks - didn't even know he'd been a smoker. COPD sucks - heck anything where your breathing is impaired sucks.

Genuinely sad about this. Grew up on Star Trek, In Search Of, and Mission Impossible. Dude was also a fairly prolific director. Great talent and great guy.
