From what I recall, this version is completely different from the original comic version and James Gunn basically created new personalities and storyline for the MCU. While it worked for this movie, I do think it set the tone for other failures where this method did not work (Moon Knight, for example). OG Marvel had some great movies. Blade 1-2 are classics. But even the OG MCU is killer.

Apparently Iron Man (1) started filming without a completed script. Every day before they shot each scene, Jon Favreau, Jeff Bridges, and RDJ would be in the trailer writing dialogue and calling up friends like Ron Howard and asking them for advice on dialogue lol.

I don’t remember which one, but one of those three said it was the most expensive “student film” ever made.
