Caught Wyatt Earp the other night. Not sure how I never saw it before. Its really odd how it came out just a year after Tombstone.
Tombstone is the superior film. This one needed to trim an easy 30-45 minutes. Dennis Quaid seemed like he was playing his version of Val Kilmer playing Doc Holiday not Doc Holiday. So very similar styles in the two roles. Val wins, but Quaid wasn't bad. Costner is Costner. In a Western. He is in his element.
Wyatt Earp isn't bad. Its just not more than average. its got horses, guns and whores so it can't be all bad. 4.5/5
From Wichita to Dodge City, to the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Wyatt Earp is taught that nothing matters more than family and the law. Joined by his brothers and Doc Holliday, Earp wages war on the dreaded Clanton and McLaury gangs.
