This season is based on Gone Tomorrow (#13) and most fans consider it one of the best Reacher books. Andrew Child didn't start taking over the series until #25.

But yeah, it's definitely shaping up to be the worst season of the show by far. The supporting cast is weak and I don't know what the fuck the show's writers were thinking when they decided to drop the book's ending twist into episode 4. Either they just don't care about spoiling it this early or they've completely rewritten the entire third act.
ok cool they were one of my moms favorite authors. I'd read her books after. I just recall the change where he starts spouting what he's thinking and it being lame.

Good thing those Indonesian chicks are good with those karambit knives because apparently 700 rounds from a machine gun is not enough for them to disable a Ford Taurus or hit any of the occupants of it. This show has always been silly, but it seems to be going to a new level this season. The 17 times Reacher has escaped from a half dozen trained soldiers/officers with guns is equally silly but at least he's supposed to be kind of superhuman. Also the guy playing the brother can't act worth a shit.

I was betting that they wouldn't copy the drive because even though that's the obvious thing to do, it would mean they lost their MacGuffin for the season if they just made copies of the files and emailed them to someone. Of course that's also the obvious thing for the sister to have done but apparently we're pretending that this specific flash drive is the only place these files can or ever will exist.

I said I was done with this after Season 3 barring an upswing, and it sounds like that opinion shouldn't change.

I would point out that (pre-release) PR photos for both Season 2 and 3 had scenes from their final episodes, so I am not sure anyone involved really considers this something that can even have spoilers - Reacher and his crew for the season will be fine, and (at most) a tangential local support cop might get killed.

I'll see it out as there isn't much else on, but I'm done after this season. As others have said, this has always been silly, but at least the actors were ok in s1 and s2, this one they're all atrocious, and the silly factor is off the charts.

This seasons actors are so bad, I'm hoping they kill the Male cop or all of them for that matter

Hey, I've been entertained. Big titty Asian chick is a terrible actress, but eh who cares. It's been a fun ride with all the action.

Oh absolutely, I'd give her the worst 30 seconds of her life if given the opportunity, and at least you'd know if she was faking.

It absolutely jumped the shark with 2 100 lb women massacring a team of 4 professional hitmen. Give me a fucking break.

I'm sorry, did you miss the knife differential?

Yeah that was pretty dumb.

"Hi I'm your new employee that you've never heard of. Give me access to the top secret terminal."

"Okay complete stranger! Luckily I know the dead employee's password by heart! Let's get you logged in with her password right away because that's how classified computer networks work! No need to clean her personal items out of the desk! Just get to work on a job you've probably never been trained for! I have no reason to be skeptical of this at all!"

Am I the only one who heard that job description and thought it sounded awesome? Scan the document, destroy the document, repeat till the box is empty, then get a new box. I don't know exactly what it is, but something about that tickled my tism. I wish I could do that in the evenings and on weekends.

Also the guy playing the brother can't act worth a shit.

The guy playing the brother looks like Zuckerberg if Zuckerberg was human.

The best one is when they walk into a law firm, doctor's office, company office, whatever... and with no training, no how-to's, under pressure, at night, never seen the system before, they know exactly how to find the spicy files and copy them in like 3 minutes flat while hitmen are running up the stairs to kill them.

If you could hire people to just do normal work this well, you'd pay them $1M/yr and be happy to do it. IF ONLY!

As someone who worked with clearance for DHS, let me say that was the most plausible part of this season so far.

I was TS in the Marines and that's not close to how anything works, even in Secret you still had a bunch of signing in ect and never knew anyone's login and I was a network administrator, I could create accounts and give permission to networks ect. Even with TS clearance there was a lot of areas where you still have to have a shadow with you

I had a DOE clearance and classified was very serious business. Based on Biden and Trump having classified documents just lying around their houses I'm thinking the politicians are much more casual about it.

I think I remember how this book ends but I'm still voting for the bad guys. This is one stupid ass season.

So it's gotten progressively worse. Episode 6 was a breaking point for me.

I had originally planned to watch all future Reacher seasons and overlook this as just a bad season, but it's become some of the worst TV out there.

My question would be is the recent Episode 7 better than Episode 6? I realize we aren't going to get any story or characters we give a fuck about this season. Just looking to know if things moderately improve from Episode 6 to Episode 7 in terms of watchability? Episode 6 was the first time I really felt ripped off (runtime of 35ish minutes was a redflag) and all the issues this season just piled up. Production quality has dipped tremendously (not being able to meet consistent runtime is a sign they were really scraping to fill the season out)

Is there any hope Episode 7 is a little better than Episode 6?

I was ready to post some sort of "there is no hope" meme, but I'll be honest, episode 7 does actually help the season out a lot. You finally get answers about what happened back in vietnam and why everyone is after the photo and its importance, and then in the last few moments of the episode something pretty big happens and a major character (I won't say who) dies. (probably. unconfirmed but likely)

If you've tolerated 6 episodes, you can handle one more. And then there's only one more left to finish out the season after that! You can do it!

This is what we call, in poker, "pot committed", although depending on that last episode it could reclassify to "tilting".
