I assume you can use a hopper...but I'm not sure how they would stay unexploded.
I also love playing with redstone. I created a "lab" on creative mode with a bunch of test circuits and contraptions. The most fun/intricate one I made was with the rotating memory system. Basically a punchcard memory system.

you can take that timer and make automatic farms for like watermelons, pumpkins, and water reeds so you don't have to worry about replanting. Then use a hopper recovery system with water for item recovery. Course if we had chunkloaders we could have a 24/7 farm going and with that mod we could have auto tree farms!! (no none of these are the multiblock systems from forestry but using stuff made with BC and Redstone)

We talking about the huge red building in the middle of the medieval project that takes up a huge amount of space where several houses could have been placed? Cause yea... That could be done underground or something. It'd be one thing if it even looked medieval... but right now it's the equivalent of a giant red penis in the middle of the project

Originally I wanted to have a nice medieval chicken farm but the game is so buggy that a decent chicken farm kills the chickens and gets them stuck or kicked out of the area. And anytime I made shit open people kept letting the chickens get loose.
I think I'll just spend a few hours this weekend making it smaller and adding a wood/stone facade to make it look more medieval.
Sounds brilliant. The chest thing is probably a mod. McFly had something like that on the first day I think but had to take it off because of exploits iirc.

Er yeah... I've been breaking into it all week for eggs since the buggy chicken stuff kills mine too (I'm assuming it's a server problem? I made something that works on youtube). I just got onto the roof and mined a hole in the ceiling then replace
I suggest just getting a Diamond Spade, digging out the dirt floor and moving the chickens underground, then build a chuch on ground level with the pigs penned in pairs. We can then enter the church, breed the pigs and offer up the piglet to some kind of dark god.
