does anyone happen to know if a shooting specialist (which cannot wield melee weapons) will fight with a melee cyberweapon? like a knee spike or drill arm?

An old game moving to a home-built engine from an industry standard engine is super rare. Them making this transition without breaking modding is also impressive, but might be evidence they weren't tightly integrated with their game engine. I bet they've hated working in Unity for years.

It's common for people building on top of a game engine like Unity or Unreal to build wrappers around all the systems and implement their own "game engine" on top of it. This can be annoying to experienced Unity devs who come in and are like, "Why did you make a right-handed coordinate system on top of Unity" and "Why did you build a shader engine instead of using Unity". It can also lengthen codepaths and increase runtimes because shit happens multiple times through multiple layers.

Anyway, very cool and impressive and good news to people running older savegames. I only got to 20-30 colonists and a handful of mods but the game started to experience performance issues in certain situations.
