Jeeze that's sad, also this from the article.

Ermey, who was an NRA board member, said at the time that his association with the organization and his disapproval of President Obama cost him acting jobs.

"Do you realize I have not done a movie in five to six years? Why? Because I was totally blackballed by the ... liberals in Hollywood," he alleged. "They can destroy you. They're hateful people [who] don't just not like you, they want to take away your livelihood ... that's why I live up in the desert on a dirt road ... I don't have to put up with their crap."

Recently we had our annual security briefing and the guy showed some video with him in it talking about OPSEC. Looked recent, so I guess maybe he was doing military gigs at least.

The man was awesome on many levels and generated a lot of good press and respect for the USMC. They just don't make men like that anymore.

I am not ashamed to say when I think drill sergeant he is the human I visualize. He did so much voice work for animation, and his voice always was one I enjoyed.

that movie would be dogshit without him. the second half of that film was dogshit anyway. it was so stupid to make "joker" the hero instead of gunny.
