also is the u7 anntennas sensitive? i haven't mounted it to the wall yet (attic too hot) and if i just tap it, it blinks out of sync for a minute

I haven't experienced anything like that. Might be worth opening a ticket with them.

it's not cuz the 5 and 6gz attenas are too weak?

I think the weakness in the xg is just range related. I'm not sure what you mean by blinks out of sync, though.

it has a constant blue ring light on, but if i "tap" it physically it wonks out into different ring colors and flashes for 1min

Ah. that is strange. I wonder if there is an issue with the lan connector. The only time it does that for me is if it accidentally gets unplugged. My son loves yanking on cables, and until we move it's difficult to keep him away.
