The rest of the quotes, once more, he is mirroring Fauci and the CDC's view that heat could have normalized thing--they didn't change that late may or July (And when they realized that the decreases from warm weather would not continue.)

Stop Scream. Lurking's reply was much better and more in good faith, and as you can see, when a part of his evidence showed Trump truly breaking with the experts, I was fully able to admit it. Trump was wrong.

Yes, but since May? And all the way into October? He absolutely broke with Fauci. You've admitted he was wrong to continue saying it. Good enough. There has been progress in this conversation. I also concede that his earliest comments were in line with Fauci, just wish he had kept in touch with the good doctor.

You know, I really do wish you'd operate in good faith sometimes. What Lurking just did is invaluable. I learned something. I would never be angry at someone for that, its the sole reason I debate. Instead of doing this, just go to another quote after researching a little and actually try to test me--I'd love to actually learn something from you, but you always devolve into this mess.

I agree with this, but wanted to point out the complexities at play behind the May/June statements. Because Fauci said all the way up until very early June that they were hopeful summer would help; but mid april he also began saying "don't take it as an absolute". It wasn't until the rise in mid-June that Fauci really began slamming the brakes on about summer being effective in containment. However, that was less due to him being incorrect and more because the virus literally mutated and changed to make transmission easier. Its a little piece of nuance people forget (Its shocking how much this story slipped from the main stream consciousness)...But essentially the entire summer spike was driven by a new mutation of the virus.

So I can cut Trump and Fauci some slack for being hopeful in May and even early June given the data they had on the virus at the time--there was a lot of evidence that heat really reduced transmission. Its why a lot of places in the middle east and potentially even places like Greece and Southern Italy were spared despite hot spots being just slightly north of them. (Greece has had almost no significant outbreaks and yet their containment is laughable). But yes, Trump should have been more cautious in June when Fauci began pumping the brakes. I wouldn't say he broke with experts, rather he chose the most hopeful view and that was a clear mistake. (Which is what you said above)


However, Trump's October assurances (Looking at the full speech) are all based off of the vaccine being out soon. Its not something he should count on given how phase 3 trials can be delayed and fail (And often do). Its a significant break with the experts who are all worried that as the heat fades, transmission will rise again and they all understand how many things can go wrong with a sophisticated clinical trial/production. So Trump getting dinged for that is absolutely wrong, he shouldn't be doing that. I'll absolute concede that. Trump makes plenty of mistakes. If the media weren't so busy making smoke, they could actually focus people on the fire.
