The funny part is that if Paredes did not get a yellow after Embolo's dive, the VAR could not have gotten involved. That plus the fact it's very unlikely a star player in a big team would have gotten a 2nd yellow for something like that leaves a bit of a sour aftertaste. Instead of having another 20min of competitive play, it became a game of "can Switzerland defend for 50 minutes without getting scored on". The answer: only for 45.

Watching these fucking players flop like bitches in the most competitive and watched events is the reason I hate this sport.
There has to be a way to Americanize this into something better. 1st yellow card is playing down one man for 10 minutes, second on the same guy is a half but yellows only last until one goal is scored. Red card can be a 45 min down a man, no matter how many goals the opponent scores. Also, they need an offsides line like hockey so they can get rid of the current shitty way AND increase the number of goals scored.
