Starz still holds exclusivity over Lionsgate releases despite the split. It's not a clean break in terms of agreements. Mostly financial as you said.

Amazon has second run on Lionsgate productions only after Starz allows it.

In any case, Lionsgate isn't going to go out of there way to do a new deal with a new streaming service. So if Amazon and Roku aren't interested, then this is dead in the water-- short of some fanatic at Netflix or HBO going out of there way to offer Lionsgate a large sum.

The thing is... if you read the press release... and between their lines and odd wording... they said:

"We injected the girl-bosses, the fags and all the DEI... and STILL /they/ did not watch...it was still just the same smaller core from the OG of WHITE straight dudes that just wanted to see violence, funny roman cussing and full frontal sexy woman nudity! casting is the biggest issue, no one is really great like the OG spartacus cast. ashur doesn't hold a candle to the original batiatus and that actor, and the supporting gladiator cast is 10% the charisma/believability of the og cast. They all look like cosplaying fags who giggle after cut is called. the sets are also kinda lame. just cheap all around. i like the actor who plays the doctore (i think he was in GoT?) but he's not anywhere near as good as the one in the first show.

This is why I believe no streaming service will pick up Season 2.

The cast is the buck-stopper.

Half the cast is undeserving of being paid.

No fucking shot HBO looks at that and agrees to pay redhead or any of the "gladiators" for a full season of restorative justice history slop.
