I love GoT and perhaps my impression is dulled because I read the books, hence any feeling of suspense is nullified-- but watching last night's episode after watching the Spartacus finale just felt.. Weak.. The finale was just so fucking epically done on every level that watching GoT felt like watching toy soldiers.. Watched the Battle of the Blackwater episode as well and it felt like watching a bunch of people LARP when compared to the final battle in Spartacus. Heresy I know-- but it's like Spartacus raised the bar for me..

I really hope they spin this series off into something with Crassus, Caesar, and Pompey. I'm sure there is enough history to work with creating a show in leading up to the First Triumvirate (post Third Servile War) and all the way to Caesar's assassination. Probably could go beyond that as well if they want to.

From some articles I've read the actor that played Ceasar did such a good job (aka fans loved him) that the Executive Producer has agreed to do a spin off. Thats about all that has been said though.

Watched it over again today and it was just as moving. How has this show escaped an Emmy? I mean sure, at first glance it's easy to dismiss it as just visceral entertainment, but in reality this show was drama at its finest. These last two seasons in particular had superb acting, story, dialogue, costumes, and cinematography. I can't think of any show that has made me care as much for the characters as this one, and that isn't accomplished through simple action and bloodletting. Also, this last season in particular Liam simply nailed it-- you could pretty much see the anger and ferocity radiate from him in this last episode.
I wonder the same thing. This show was excellent every season. I'm sad to see it end but I feel like by having such a condensed number of episodes it forced the pace so that the writers couldn't drag storylines on for too long.

They were pretty heavy handed at the end leaving a spin-off available. Personally I'd love a show in the similar vein but with a larger focus on political drama. I loved seasons 1 and 2 so much because of Bat and Ashur's plots all the time. The action was cool and all but Ashur was an impossibly good anti-hero.

Agreed.

Also, I will only watch a Caesar spinoff if he has frequent flashbacks of being raped by midgetberius...and if Brad Pitt undoes his lip injections

The sword reversal reversal is the most epic moment in television since the shield boost lunge.

Ceasar pulls a mad pouting toddler face when they retake the hill and Spartacus has gotten away.

Spartacus was a wonderful wonderful series and tho I'm sad to see it end, I'm really happy it didn't drag on for years and turn into a pile of shit. Spartacus is a really good blueprint of how to make a good show. Hopefully we see more of this type in the future, I'd love to see a good 2 to 3 year series of Attila done in Spartacus fashion.

Pretty much this. Very sad to see it go but better than dribbling on and turning to shit. And who knows what may come of the Caeser series plans

I did think McIntyre turned out pretty solid in the end though. He was a bit iffy to start and took a while to settle in but I was happy with his performance overall.

Vikings renewed for Season 2 though so still some mad cunts shagging and killing stuff to be had!

Seriously, no joke. When Crassus reversed his sword my brain went into a immediate sad panic of "He's gonna die like the gladiator did..Noooooooo", only to have it totally swing into a state of sheer giddy joy only a second later when Spartacus grabbed hold of it with that look on his face that just screamed "don't think so Fucker".. Epic moment of emotional roller coaster.

Yeah, when Crassus was swinging around to stab Spartacus during that moment, I was yelling NO NO NO at my TV, followed two seconds later by FUCK YEAH SPARTACUS. I was pretty tense during the whole episode.

It's a testament to the quality of the writing and acting that, despite all of us knowing the ultimate outcome (i.e everyone loses/most of them die), the entire final episode was still incredibly exciting and filled with tension.

No, we need a story where the (perceived) goodie wins, fuck going through this all over again.
Spartacus did win, he's still relevant in 2013.....when's the last time you heard any rumblings out of the Roman Empire?

Ya, never heard of anything from the Roman Empire before. Now I'm going to go back to eating my Caesar salad and using Nero to make a copy of a sporting event from the local Coliseum that happened last August.

I think Starz had enough success with Spartacus to be in position to make a spin-off based on the New Zealand based actors they have been using.

Todd Lasance has already showed interest in doing more work for DeKnight as Ceasar and they could easily get 3 seasons from the end of the 3rd servile war until the death of Crassus in Syria/Middle East all the way to the death of Ceasar himself.

Finally got around to watching the last 2 eps... Holy. Shit. Now THAT is how you finish off a series, though I wish the mini-rapist would have gotten butt fucked at least once before he was killed (does that make me gay?). Dexter, Weeds, (pretty much anything on Showtime) take note.

Spinoff w/ Crassus/Caesar would be great.

Truly a masterpiece of goreporn. I don't know if these guys deserve any awards in particular, maybe they do, but all of the writers and all of the actors (except newbia) deserve more work!

SHE FINALLY GOT GOT. Spartacus may have lost but the audience won.

I think not-andy could actually be a decent actor. Crassus and Ceasar too.

This has been on my watch list forever, but only just now started watching it. Damn good show. I almost feel lucky to have waited and now have four seasons to watch.

Bumping the thread only to remind anyone else who put if off and forgot to get around to it. I regret I only have but 5 stars to give.
