Can tell Tom Holland is getting too old for teenager roles. Otherwise this should be a fun movie. This is the only Marvel franchise Sony hasn't run into the ground, not that they haven't tried.

tom is 29 so he is getting too old for "teen" movies, and he should be able to pass for low to mid 20's for a while.

he does have a "baby" face so that helps

I'm just here for the Punisher tbh. That will probably get me to see it in theatres.

Sometimes I'll just rewatch Daredevil S2 E1-4 as a little 2-hour movie of Daredevil vs Punisher. Just those four episodes are a nice contained story arc.

If they could get the full Netflix Marvel crew in for a Hell's Kitchen subplot I would get arrested for pulling a Peewee Herman in a public theater.

The Daredevil soft reboot/continuation on D+ was dogshit, except for the Frank Castle parts.
I tapped out of D+ a year or three ago, so I missed it. The reason the Netflix shows were great was because they were definitely aimed at adults. Can't really do that for D+. Netflix is dogshit for the most part, but they have been behind some really good shows too. One Piece proves they are still able to do things right.

I disagree. Disney + has merged w/ Hulu and they have a lot of adult shows on there.

Wife and I just watched Sunny Nights with Will Forte about a cartel and sex extortion in Australia. It was pretty good, not amazing, but entertaining and engaging. It's Always Sunny is on D+ and they're coming out with a new season this year. We've been watching RJ Decker and High Potential, both adult crime dramas. Plus, it has a lot of wholesome comedies like the newest season of Scrubs, Abbott Elementary, Animal Control, etc. I just stay away from the Marvel/SW stuff on there.

I'm curious about what roles will be played by Frank Castle and Hulk, are they the "angel and devil" on Spider-Mans shoulders or are they just cameos to get people in seats.

Castle first appeared as a villain in the Amazing Spider-Man #129, he was given a hit on Spider-Man and tried to take him out.

I thought the trailer was kinda meh.

Tom Holland is indeed becoming a bit too old to be believable as a university-age dude, and the angst over everyone's memory wipe is a bit too omnipresent when you consider there's been 10 MCU movies since that contrived plot point happened.. people have moved on, Spider-Man should have moved on too.

Scorpion is barely seen, the Hand is an odd villain organization for a dude with super-strength, they seem more believable against human-level heroes like Daredevil, Elektra or Punisher.

I'll go see it because as others have said the MCU Spidey movies have been pretty good so far (I really liked the first one and the third one was okay too, second one was ehh), but the trailer didn't really make me very excited about it.

Maybe I'm just getting too old for this shit.

The Peter Parker story is universally loved because it is entirely relatable. Spider-Man is the result of Uncle Ben and Aunt May (RIP Marisa Tomei's GILF version). He is a fundamentally good kid who just wants to help people. After 50 years of that it was still true after he and MJ got married. That type of wholesomeness was anathema to the degenerates who were writing for Marvel the past 25 years, so they tried everything under the sun to shit on his legacy. The past few movies have just proven that they failed.

He does have some super strength, but his most iconic powers are sticking to surfaces and being able to dodge things. The Hand have mystical powers, so they may or may not be a good match against him depending on whoever wrote the story.

Trailer was alright. Curious to see how they handle Scorpion. One of my favorites but havent been a fan of the mech suits they have tried a few times in these movies.

I agree with you about the fundamental Peter Parker story, I genuinely like the concept of Spider-Man / Peter Parker, but my problem with the MCU version (and I guess it was the same with MJ in the Sam Raimi version) is that you're basically watching 2 hours of life shitting constantly on a good "kid". MJ was a huge bitch in Sam Raimi's movies and you just constantly wanted Peter Parker to find another girlfriend, and in the MCU version, well you have a meh MJ, you have dead Aunt May, then he loses all his friends / super friends due to the memory wipe, and that's after the kid got simply poofed by Thanos and came back just in time to see his mentor and father figure die.

I like Tom Holland as Spider-Man but for once it'd be nice to have a movie where something good happens to him, because I think Spider-Man movies should be fun and not depressing.

I thought Vulture's tech-suit was great because it was fresh after Avengers and it made sense that the dude pilfered some Chitauri tech and used it to commit crimes, plus it fit the Vulture aspect of scavenging from corpses. Also Keaton is just amazing. Scorpion was introduced so long ago and only shows up now, I'm not convinced it'll work either.. does Scorpion exist in a non-tech version in the comics? Like with mutant / genetic scorpion abilities and not robotic?

I would assume most of the villains / daytime Punisher are a montage at the beginning, with the later Scorpion fight going badly / oddly (either saved by or then meeting with Punisher afterward at night), until he realizes he's actually been under psychic attack by the mind controller working with the Hand (presumably Sadie Sink's character).

I also assume MJ sorta remembers Spider-Man (hence all the photos of him on the fridge) because of the power of love or some such bullshit - seems very odd to revert everything from the last movie immediately.

At this point, I'm whelmed - "unreliable reality" attacker was just two movies ago with Mysterio, after all.

Edit: Apparently this is a thing from the comics?

So yeah, I think Spidey will have to fight a Sadie Sink's mind controlled... Hulk in the climax, because everyone will expect it to be the Punisher.
