The actress/casting didn't add anything positive to the story. Her writing and power level was absurd at the end.

I mean, yeah. Jean is crazy powerful in the late 80's and early 90's comics. Even without the Phoenix Force, she's capable of being more powerful than Xavier, which he states more than once in the comics and even cartoons.

Yeah 40 years of comics later they did a lot of stupid shit. This is her origin story. She hasn't even been to the school yet.

Her "Origin" story, along with many others, has been redone multiple times. It's not crazy to assume they would use later adaptations of it and not her 1963, mediocre character.

Like I explained earlier, her power blowing up in this movie is what's most likely going to get Xavier's attention to go and recruit her for the team he's assembling.

It almost seemed like they were going to tease Dark Phoenix in this when she was in his mind looking down the dark hallway
