Yeah, it's the typical Hollywood trope. Men stupid and reduced to late night infomercial capabilities, women smart and capable.

Finished episode 4. I figured they may have changed the name of Spidey from the comics but it turns out the only thing they took from the comics was the noir. They're not following the comics at all.

anyone watching in B&W? I'm watching the "hue" version which has a weird color vibrancy, I kinda like it but not sure if B&W would be better/worse. I'm downloading the episodes (fuck amazon ads lol) so would have to download a second copy if I want to watch in B&W.

Episode 1 didn't really grab me, I don't love Cage's acting/voice choices and the story is not interesting at all so far but it can only get better I suppose.

I watched the first 3 episodes in color and the rest of the season in B&W. Personally... I prefer B&W. It just fits the noir aesthetic better for me.

The Cage we're familiar with comes out in later episodes. It does get better. But like I said earlier,it doesn't follow any comic at all.

This is what I did too.

Overall it was a good series, I thought it only got better and better as the season went on. A welcome change after The Boys and For All Mankind seasons I just endured.

I just started and watched the first 3 episodes in B&W and enjoyed the show so far. I'm looking forward to watching the rest.

Just watched the first episode and am thoroughly enjoying it. The wife and I have now taken an approach that we'll find a show to watch and watch one episode a night, as to draw it out and avoid "The Show Hole" as much as we can. heh

She mentioned during it how she didn't feel like she'd seen Nicolas Cage in anything really in a long time. I mentioned a few movies he'd been in, and she goes looking it up. It seems he at one point had a net worth over $150 million, then bad spending, bad choices, and tax issues wiped him out. Then he paid everything off, has been more controlled, and is now worth around $25 Million. So my theory is he's found his financial groove, has what is probably plenty of money now that he's not blowing it insanely, and entered his "Nicholas Cage doing things Nicholas Cage thinks is cool... and we're all just along for the ride" phase of his career.

If this is an example of that, then I'm wholly fine with this phase of his life. heh

He's made a ton of low budget movies lately. His recent Dracula movie was half decent.

I like this show but not really sure what angle they are going for. The gumshoe detective vs mafia is good even with the over-acting and funny voices. The superhero parts seem a little forced. The sfx are bad and the suits look dumb and clunky. It feels a lot like Kickass, another great Cage movie.

finished it off, it was ok nothing amazing but not really bad either. pretty predictable, the supe stuff was pretty low key and tame. i'm glad I watched it in color, a lot of the outfits and locations really popped and the show didn't feel like a noir half the time, more like a CW DC show.

Didn't hate it but nothing really special here, there's no cliff hangers or anything, pretty much every story line wraps up neatly.

I think they spent $400m on this though which is insane, and I wonder if amazon will have the stomach to fund another season.

so apparently they had to spend a year reshooting the show because they only delivered a B&W version (with scenes blocked for B&W, etc) and the studio decided they wanted a color version, so thats why the show cost $400m lol.

The Boys final season only cost $110m
