When its done (tm).

I am actually starting to enjoy the double standards in the gaming community. When SC gets a delay (after delay, after delay, lets remember it was supposed to roll out the dogfighting module november.....) its all fine and "quality above all!" but when other games miss their deadlines its almost always "WTF?! U SUX! L2Program!". To me its starting to look like all the bundles of promises they made regarding what this game will do is slowly creeping up to bite them in the ass.

Of course, I am as guilty as anyone since I bought a pack way back when, but I do have to say me plunking down some change for Elite is starting to look like the better of the two payments.

I don't see much of a double standard within the same communities of gamers. What recent delay was poorly accepted by the community?

I've already put money in this thing and honestly as long as it comes out and it works I don't care too much how long I have to wait. There's nothing even close to the kind of detail they WANT to deliver in this game. there are a grand total of zero good space sim campaigns recently? Squadron 42 will likely be worth my pledge value by itself. I'll wait.

Also if you are asking about when, you have time to pick, love, play to boredom, and drop, multiple mmo's between now and release, not even next year most likely.

Hearing good things about it so far.

I paid into the game to get alpha access but honestly I probably won't play until release.

Well they certainly have not made the dog-fight module 'too easy'.. I may need to invest in a flight stick for this because even a mouse with on-the-fly dpi adjustment is challenging to keep controlled in a fire-fight. Other than the load times though, it is pretty damn impressive even at this early stage.

Any major patch to popular MMOs? TESO content patch for example. MWOs Community Warfare, SWTORS housing and guildships...

After playing this alpha I am impressed by the grafix and that it is smooth as butter on my puter, but I think I have deluded myself into thinking this was gonna be a flight sim in space. Currently its "point-n-click" ala Freelancer, not a ship simulator. I read somewhere they have a Newton physic build working in-house and I hope that will be an option together with a good HOTAS control.

Stick control is terribad at the moment, tried running it with my X52-pro setup and promptly went back to m+kb.

We should have a E

or SC poll in 6 months. I'm probably going to pull a Tuco and not bother with any alpha/beta.

I have a feeling the release of these games will be far enough apart that the decision will be 1. play ED or not and 2. If ED is good Do you leave it for SC.
Hell I have a feeling ED will release its expansion with the 1:1 scale planetary civilizations before SC releases.

Well it's pretty simple: Do you want to play a game? Then wait for Elite: Dangerous.
Or would you rather piss away money on the funniest Kickstarter scam this side of Pantheon? Then SCO is the one you want!

I want to try out Elite, but their ?120 pricetag for the early beta is a bit too much. I DO belive the idea behind Elite is better and I personaly loved Elite way more then any Wing Commander (god what a bitch to dock with a turning space station before you got a docking computer....) due to the freedom in the game.

That being said, I find it rather odd that Elite seems to be further along the dev track considering the huge difference in the amount of money poured into SC.

Having less money and a smaller team helps you stay focused. Elite isn't as ambitious as SC and they had their graphics engine up and running before the Kickstarter IIRC.

Take a look at these beautiful Elite: Dangerous system maps | PCGamesN

I dislike some of the "realism" features, like how you get into your cockpit. Takes so long before you finally sit behind your controls, and I have motionsickness by then already(should probably go 3rd person..... Please tell me we can skip that scene later on. SC sure is ambitious with their walking on spacestations, avatars, planetside stuff and such. I must admit though that the thing that actually interests me most is the trading game, and being able to do this as a walking avatar on a spacestation or planet. I would make transport hops, possibly some harvesting but hate fighting in space. (PvE or PvP). I only got 25 dollars invested so no biggie. Will just wait untill this game fully realizes, or not.

Patches for released games are different than delays to released games.

I think people would have cheered if they delayed ESO by six months.
