Enterprise had a rough start, but in its final season it felt like it was really hitting its stride and they were building towards the first Romulan War. The problem was people weren't as patient with Enterprise as they were with prior Treks.

People have rosy memories of shows like TNG and DS9, but forget that their first couple seasons were bad at worst and mediocre at best. It really took both of them getting to around season 3 to really start to have more consistent quality and better stories.

Only bc they brought in Manny Coto to fix shit. Then as soon as it was going well the whole thing got axed. B&B are the plague.

Enterprise suffered from being on a shitty network more than anything else. It had a decent story and got significantly better as it went on. But no ratings == no money == early death. Paramount really fucked themselves over by going with UPN instead of WB. Not sure if CW would have given a new Star Trek show a chance, but it would have done much better than anything on UPN did. Definitely better than anything on their dogshit streaming service.

Voyager's ratings were low enough that the local affiliate stopped airing them. Two or three seasons in the show just went away. The show eventually came back (and with a marathon to catch everyone up) but putting another Star Trek series on the network could not have been a good idea.

I wasn't watching Star Trek with a dyke looking old lady captain. Or the ugly old Chinese lady captain for that matter. Certainly not watching this faggy time extravaganza.

When Enterprise was airing I was out partying /working and not watching any type of TV. Anything that required me to remember when/where it aired wasn't getting watched. Except football.
I watched Next Generation mostly in reruns recovering from my 1st back surgery. The OG played in reruns when I was a kid. Watched them all in order on Paramount when we had it, could not get into Enterprise.

The only newer one worth a watch is Strange New Worlds, and that's going away. This dykefest show is a nonstarter.

Objectivity is going to be tough given STD still had some goodwill to work with when it launched and this was showing up to the party already hated.

I watched the first episode cause I like trek but damn this is shit and I watched every episode of Enterprise.

I'd kill for a live action lower decks. They were great in the strange new world episode.

I'm going to get so many hours of entertainment from this while at work.

...by playing all the youtube reaction videos in the background from the poor bastards that have to watch this for their channel.

so for anyone who watched this and discovery, which one is worse

Apples for apples, this one is considerably worse.

The start of discovery was actually pretty good, with a lot of things people were complaining about were part of the plot.

For academy, ignoring the running in circles screaming about woke perspective - if that's you, all you need to see is the cast pictures - it's pretty bland and doesn't make a lot of sense. Giamatti was having waaay too much fun as the villain, but the rest of the acting was serviceable at best. Especially when interacting with him - they are pretty much 'ugh, this guy', which is a kind of weird attitude toward someone holding you at gunpoint.

Overall the biggest problem though is that the main premise is 'what if star trek, but the crew is a bunch of unprofessional hormonal idiots'. Who are they aiming for with that perspective ? The people who thought the crew in Prometheus were a bunch of boring rule-following nerds I guess ?

Actually, after watching the second episode, I clearly spoke too soon.

It is, in fact, unbearable.

The level of cringe in the episode is so high it could cause physical injuries, scenes like 'were you just using me !?!' need a surgeon general's warning about permanent vision damage from eye-rolling.
