Did you forget Cassidy was pregnant with his kid?

've never picked up the DS9 relaunch novels but I think he comes back in one of them!

He does. I forget how long, but it’s like a decade tops later. I never read that particular novel, but I think it was referenced in a later novel I read. It’s been forever since I read them and I don’t recall much. Only plot points I remember was Odo trying to make a specific Jem Hadar (the one he finds and raises in DS9) into something more than a grunt and the trill are related to those evil worm parasites from TNG season 1

The special What we Leave Behind about the show's production has a large portion of it with the writers discussing what they were going to do if they ever shot a season 10. It sounds like it would have been really good. Nog gets ganked in Ep1 of that storyline.

I skimmed through the episode. The show is painful to watch because it's clearly aimed at younger people. Cirroc Lofton reprises his role as Jake (well, a holographic recreation of him anyways). Some half Cardassian half trill professor played by Tawny Newsome at the academy reveals she is Dax (guess symbiotes live much longer now or whatever). Basically lands with Sisko never came back but Jake thought he was still watching over them or w/e. One thing that was kind of wtf is they show Sisko's family tree and no kid with Cassidy, which I chalk up to either the writers forgot about the whole pregnancy storyline or the prop people did lol.

Sounds terrible and also pointless? Not that anyone really gives a shit about Trill symbiotes but we do see that when they get old they stop being implanted and instead chill in little hot tubs. We do see in Children of Time that the Dax symbiote is still trucking after an extra 200 years but the scale with Academy is like another 800 years?

Having a kid was going to hinder her career as a space trucker so she aborted that baby the same day as Sisko bouncing for cigs.

She just teleported it straight into the blender.

Vacuum desiccated offspring of the emissary for sale.

edit - I'm not making fun of Star Trek or DS9 or it's characters. I'm making fun of nu-Trek writing. Cassidy aborting a parasitic clump of cells to preserve her career fits like a glove.

Once they moved all their shit behind the Paramount+ paywall I never watched anything they have put out. I think the last thing I watched was the Chris Pine movies.

The only thing these woke fucks know about Sisko is that he was "fistest black captain in trek!!!1!1!!", completely ignorant of anything about the character beyond that. And that OG, the OG Cast Movies, and TNG had multiple examples of captain rank or higher black men. Fucking Daystrom is literally the smartest scientist in Trek History and both Cartwright and the Starfleet CnC were black men in most of the OG cast movies. TNG worm invade episode had a black woman as the youngest captian in fleet history.

And aside from some subconscious victim bias shown in the halucination of the sci fi magazine episode (which included negative black stereotypes as well) Sisko was a commie busting american culture loving religion respecting badass who thought Klingons were the shit did not not want his son hanging around no ghetto trash ferengi Nog. Dude was fucking based as hell and make Kirk look like a pussy ass hippy by comparison. His best friend was a centuries old gender changing alien who spent most of their time together being his wing man, getting him drunk, and laid. He even banged the mirror universe versions of both his closes female colleagues. Dude was a super chad. If they had bothered to study and understand the character, they would have just retconned him as a villain who led pro life Bajore for Bajorans religious revolts against the Federation Commie paradise.

Banging mirror universe Jadzia is one of those little things you would FOR SURE excise from a script nowadays. It has a logic to it but it's got larger implications for Sisko if you think about it at all.

SNW is mostly good and true to the OG trek, aside from cringe inducing moments where they have to admit STD existed. There are some very aweful girl power and woke episodes, though, like the singing disco klingon musical episode and it goes a bit too far in the memberries at times. But it has some really great standouts, like pretty much anything involving Mebenga and the Vulcans are assholes episodes. The Gorn stuff that got semi retconned to fit with the Enterprise version of Gorn was fairly good, too. The Lower Decks crossovers almost tempted me to check out that show, but I stuck to my guns and have avoided seeing a single episode of Lower Decks, STD, or SFA. And the only season of Picard I watched was S3 which was actually good because Kurtzman had zero to do with it.
