The actual book is out of print I think, but there is an audiobook where Robinson is reading the book in the character of Garak that is available I believe.

I read it many years ago - from what I recall, the book is basically Garak writing a letter/communication to Bashir post-DS9 finale that goes into his back story: his childhood, his relationship (or lack thereof) with his father, and then later his time in the Obsidian Order, with the occasional flash forward to the present where he has found himself part of the provisional government on Cardassia as they try to rebuild after the Dominion tried to eradicate them.

If you were a fan of the Garak character or DS9 in general, you'll probably enjoy it.

Bigger runtime than I was expecting and he's in character? This is more effort than I am accustomed to which a television show tie in novel.

I finished up A Stitch in Time and for someone who regards DS9 as their favorite Star Trek series it exceeded all expectations. As Garak's memoirs and gift of sorts to Bashir it's both prequel and epilogue taking place along different times in his Garak's life through childhood to the end of the war and reconstruction. There's a little bit of Ender's Game here and a little bit of Great Expectations and while it is a little melodramatic a time or two Andrew Robinson puts in more effort with the writing of this book than the franchise has seen in maybe two decades. Given where Star Trek would end up in the years after DS9's conclusion what I appreciated the most was how much the person holding the pen really, really cared.

Next up we have

Mirror Universe Kira and Mirror Universe Annika Hansen fuck constantly in this two novel series. These books are real and officially licensed.

Now that I'm done with A Stitch in Time I went to do a little research and I guess it's one of the ones everyone holds in high regard and Dark Passions here is so bad it continues to be memorable 25 years later.
