I don't care which era they use. Just make good movies and TV shows. It shouldn't be that hard the Star Wars universe is such ab interesting setting where you can tell a wide range of stories.

The Universe is a big fucking place. They could have entire sectors where the Jedi are literally Walker, Texas Ranger. Or Batman with psychic powers. heh

I would point out that 'Focus on other time periods' does not equal 'Retconning the sequels out of existence'.

You could have Star Wars focus on more post-Original territory (like Mando), midquel territory (like Solo, Obi-Wan, or Andor), pre-prequel territory (like KOTOR, the High Republic, or Acolyte), or post-sequel territory (the planned? still planned? Rey sequels) with a new* batch of characters without reusing the sequel characters / storylines.

*Obviously, the emphasis is on new characters - no one wants more Acolyte.

The Rey movie does have Shawn Levy's indirect backing. It's not going to be easily cancelled since Levy's collaborator is writing it.

It's possible Disney new CEO and Filoni becoming chief creative affects the Rey movie, despite the writer being competent. Iger is under contract to oversee the CEO until 2027.

I would say if Starfighter does gangbusters (which for Disney Star Wars since the hiatus just means doesn't lose money) then Disney will be more favorable to authorizing the Rey budget-- since it'd be done by some of the same people working on Starfighter. If Starfighter does Solo numbers, then it's less likely.

They're sitting on a goldmine with high republic and old republic eras. First they'd need to purge the women and faggots though, or they're not gonna make anything good.

I've never seen new SW figures anywhere but discount dollar stores in huge bulk. Lol.
Years ago when I worked at Best Buy. No one bought SW shit there either. Not even the LEGO sets. The AM of the store, however, did pay like $400 for some dumbass lightsaber from DisneyWorld or Disneyland. I don't know which one has the Star Wars shit. I haven't been to Disneyland since King Kong was the main attraction. No wait...that was Universal Studios. It was....1989? 90? I can't remember

I’m wondering if people would be ok with them recasting the original characters and telling new stories in that era or doing something like Heir to the Empire for example. There’s a lot of good Legends stuff they could borrow from If they want to stay in the Skywalker era.

I think people would be okay with them using an old Mark Hamill if they hadn't already shit the bed with his character and he wasn't such a deranged lunatic in real life.

No one cared about Stallone doing elderly Rambo or Elderly Rocky.

I know that "There is a lot to explore and just ignore the rey trilogy"

The problem with that is, we have been given the ending... Luke is dead by being bradmadbad sad sleepy... Han gets offed by his Son, Palpatine and all that nonsense etc etc all happened and it is the culmination of /the core/ characters and story that everything is based off of..

Why do you think Grogu didn't stay with Luke... that reception was taken very blandly at best, because /we know/ what happens in the far term for luke and his jedi nonsense and no one liked that taste in their mouth for grogu... so /everything/ is soured by it... you introduce some big new bad guy... who cares, we know it ends up the first order and snoke and palpy etc. etc.

In order to get the re-investment of the core, they need to address the situation and not simply avoid or dance around it... a retcon or // universe split is really the two main roads to take.

I really think they need to find a new angle on this shit. The idea of bringing the old cast makes me cringe, cause fuck mark hamill, and most of them area dead anyways. Rey era? No thanks.

The star wars universe has plenty of potential for good stories, but it needs to be a universe far away, not some intense critique of why drumpf and republicans are evil. Disney just needs to purge literally everyone at the studio and start again, but then it will be disney choosing people, so it'll inevitably be all gay women and their tranny mustard hole pets.

If this was MCU, it'd be done. It's always been weird to me how Lucas Film is operated like this island of stagnation by Disney, whereas Marvel is operated entirely differently with a whole lot of fire under their ass. Why is Marvel a neverending shift and pivot "Oh shit we gotta do something we lost money start pandering", and why is Lucas Film "Just take it off the silverscreen and punish them for not supporting Solo, for a decade. Beat them until morale improves".

Marvel has had so many flops, but Star Wars wasn't allowed even 1 flop before they plugged it. They need to study this phenomenon. The only conclusion I drew is Iger is vindictive toward Star Wars-- but there has to be more to it.

Their entire main “new” trilogy - the Ray line… WAS a flop- be them saying it or not, it was and was so completely its hamstrung the entire SW org.

Right, the Rey garbage made some money back but how much did they spend to acquire Lucasfilm vs their profits? And they shit the bed so hard on the fanbase that it will never recover. They lost money on Indiana feminazi and paid 4 billion for Lucasfilm.

Yep, and Disney got Marvel for free. Try again.

You think making 4.4 billion on the sequel trilogy is flopping-- weird take.

Mhmm, and how much money did the M-SheU make compared to the sequel trilogy?

Budgets are the same between Marvel and Star Wars except for Episode 9.

Keep it coming.

Did they pay 4 billion for the m-she-u?

If the star wars movies sold 4 billion in tickets that's only 2 billion to Disney. Movie theaters get half.

And out of that 2 billion you need to subtract production and marketing costs. So what are they, less than a billion in the black? So that knocks off 1/4 of what they paid for the IP. Pretty much everything after the trilogy has lost money just like Disney's stock price.
