Isn't that the starwars nerd youtube guy? The ugly bald one?

They did this in the 70s too. It's called hardware wars.

Any movie that doesn't include these guys is going to be an instant failure.

220m doesn't even sound like a lot these days. Is that really "the most expensive movie ever"?

I'm sure it will do just fine, even though Star Wars' brand is in the shitter, Gosling is at the height of his career and his name alone will carry the movie to 800m+ pretty easily.

yeah nothing is that tweet is a real useful fact, the electric state for example (netflix) cost $531m, the last jurassic movie is around there, doomsday is gonna blow past all of these probably, on and on. Thats just the raw cost of the film crew+sets+salaries for a few months, then there is a lot more cost on editing, reshoots, and marketing usually is hundreds of millions more.

none of this includes VFX afaik which tends to be the most expensive part of blockbuster movies now anyways

its like me saying samtheman has the most DPS

Note that The Electric State people didn't get residuals, so their salaries were larger than usual which bumped up the budget.

That said, while $226M _may_ be up there for Star Wars releases, it isn't even in the real conversation for most expensive movies ever, even tossing out Covid costs for things like the last Mission Impossible.
