I remember people criticizing the prequel fights as being over choreographed and too flashy.

I mean it was more than just over-choreographed, most of the "fights" were just dancing while they swung their lightsabers into each other rather than trying to kill the other guy. I mean the lightsaber fight between Luke and Vader at the end of RotJ is about as sophisticated as two guys swinging lead pipes at one another, but it's still the best fight out of all the movies. The Obi-Wan vs Anakin fight came so close to perfection, but then they completely ruined it with that ludicrous sequence where they just stand in front of each other spinning their lightsabers around for like 10-15 seconds before they clash again, and then completely flubbed the ending with that high ground shit.

The fight choreography in the NT should be somewhere in between OT and prequels when it comes to proficiency, they don't have the lightsaber forms that were honed over thousands of years from the prequels but Kylo has been trained and Rey is a natural prodigy on the scale of a vergence. But they just look terrible.

f you pull in the Clone Wars TV series, there's dozens more examples of the Jedi order being complete garbage

It comes across more as the result of hundreds/thousands of years of complacency rather than outright retardation.

Clone Wars is so much better than this trash. I mean, yeah there are some bad filler episodes and ugh anything with Jar Jar in it. Still, rewatched Season one/Movie with some episode order guide I found floating around the internet and overall its really great. Way more Star Wars and heart than this garbage.

Lol. The scene that had two force users fighting a bunch of non-force users without once using their force powers? Yeah great fucking scene. There isn't a single fight in the prequels where force powers aren't used during it. Do you know why? Because it would be absolutely retarded for space monks to not use all of their space monk powers in a fight to the death.

I just started watching it on Netflix after seeing TLJ and wanting to get some real Star Wars into my life. Km blown away by the production quality of this show. Extremely impressive and does a great job of world building. Wish I watched it years ago.

Just got back from seeing this and I cannot even tell you how much they fucked this entire thing up. Fuck Disney. Fuck Rian Johnson. Fuck whoever hired the God Damn mass effect andromeda writers who dialogued this pile of puke. What a fucking waste of a franchise. And this coming from obviously, like everyone else, a huge fucking Star Wars fan. I don’t even give two flying fucks to see episode nine via a rental now. Seriously.

So much wrong with everything in the movie from the political bullshit undertones to the social justice warrior shit to the humiliation of major characters who should have had a much larger story presence from lead.

Jesus. I don’t even know what to say.

Oh yeah crystal dogs... I was fine with them in principle because they were used for the plot. CGI was meh on them.
Speaking of CGI animals, that entire save the animals thing was super cringe too. The whole casino part should have been cut although I guess they couldn't because that's what they use for Finn/Rose/Phasma. It just flat sucked and seemed so out of place.

Goofball yet wise puppet yoda was also very good, forgot that. I didn't like how they handled the Jedi temple so much but I liked the failure lesson and admitting the Jedi fucked up a lot.
dogs weren't for plot. they could have found an exit in another way.
meh CGI is unusable CGI.

and yet the throne room scene is one of the best fight scenes in the series.

Yeah I find it an odd critique. Not that a_skeleton_03 was offering it up as one as much as just pointing it out, but I've seen others do so.

No. No it wasn't. It was two fools flinging lightsabers uncontrollably, and literally lucked out, because force (reasons).

Really? If so, impressive.

The throne room fight was amazing until you analyzed it and realized that the guards were given a catalog and told "you need to pick a random weapon from this, you can have up to two of the same weapon in the group, oh and a few of them also need to turn into chain whips".

Then they put armor on them that could stop lightsabers but only sometimes ....

Imperial royal guards are my favorite of the entire universe, their comics were great also. They butchered it in every single way and that scene alone probably heavily swayed me into the hate category.

No lightsabers touching was just a very unique aspect of the movie that isn't necessarily a critique. It feels like you would have to go out of your way to not put one in the script though.

Some of the Clone Wars episodes/story arcs are even worse than prequel level bad, like I'd rather be strapped to a chair and forced to watch The Last Jedi nonstop for an entire day than watch the Mortis story arc ever again. In general though Clone Wars is fantastic.

The worst ones I remember were the ones with the younglings. The only saving grace is knowing that Anakin slaughtered them all.

I remember people criticizing the prequel fights as being over choreographed and too flashy. They might have overcompensated a bit but I do like that they've dialed that back down.
Prequel fight choreo was done by a gay fencer, cuz fencing is gay.

Hell in terms of "martial arts", I did more fencing than Kung Fu, and still say fencing is gay.

Unless your name is inigo montoyo, don't bother

Grats on achievement whoever!

I'd think the same thing, almost certainly was a conscious decision

Within any "fandom" there are people who are desperate to prove that they are bigger fans than everyone else. They tend to do things like humble brag about how many times they saw the latest piece of shit movie. They are sad people.

or brag about how they just now are getting to a multi year, overall highly regarded animated series that ended 5 years ago.
