Rise of "Rey" Skywalker /puke

Bringing back Palpatine basically nullifies Vaders entire arc so I guess it totally makes sense since JJ decided to make Han/Leia/Luke perpetrators (by way of Kylo and inaction) of far more planetary destruction than if they had done nothing and had let the warning of Alderaan allow the Empire to bring peace to the galaxy.

Destroyed remains of a Star Destroyer, now we get the remains of a Death Star. Really stretching himself here.

Has this hack even made a good movie yet?

Rey is a Palpatine, and Kylo is going to either save or kill her for redemption. Change my mind.

That was one of my theories that Darth Sidious had finally cheated death when people were saying its Darth Plagueis as the big bad.

Its unfounded in the EU-- but they scrapped all that. If so, they made the right call. Nobody gives a fuck about Plagueis. Not in the Skywalker saga anyway. Save that trash for another movie.

Social media has lost their mind.... look at what was created. Let's not get carried away folks. It's intriguing but nothing more than a small seed of intrigue.

Sad fact is, every since ROTJ the franchise has been trash

She was on the stage and interviewed but I did not see Kelly Marie Tran in the actual teaser trailer. Anyone catch her?



edit: found a pic, so she's definitely around but maybe not too much. Certainly improved on her hair / overall look.

Hopefully Rose died on the way back to her home planet.

What hints? He essentially said that was his goal in the prequels. He was even shopping around that he might hold the knowledge necessary to do so.

He accomplished it.

What fucking hints do you need?

The character was literally shopping around knowledge on how to cheat death and advertising that he was the understudy of someone trying to do so.

Yeah. But not /the/ dish heh

I went from 100% not seeing this to 99%. i'm honestly surprised they could come up with a trailer that changed my mind in any way. I expectations are still tremendously low and no way am i seeing it until there's a 100 reviews on this board saying it was good.

i do appreciate the 180 that emperor's presence means. the 1st 2 were all about moving on to new characters and killing off old ones along the way. bringing back Emp, and I'm pretty sure I heard Luke's voice, it just an in-the-face to Rian Johnson. so on the notion that this does better than TFA and TLJ, doing so because it embraces fans and the characters they loved, I'm OK with.

The cinematography looked great.

Everything else is going to be an unmitigated shitshow. I loved Star Wars so much as a kid, I subscribed to the fan magazine, had posters, hundreds of dollars of toys...then the prequels came out and that was pretty awful. Now this shit, episode 8 is legitimately worse to me than the prequels cause they were at least trying whereas episode 8 is RJ shitting in our mouths for the sheer pleasure of it.

Now I teach kids that legitimately think the prequels are good and misunderstood despite nothing in them making any sense at all and the scripting and set design being total ass.

Episode 9 won't fix any of that.
