I just installed it, because I bought the super edition, too.

I was going to try to fire it up sometime this weekend, continue my NG+. I'm probably some sort of retarded outlier when it comes to the game, but ...

I don't know what it is but I just like the game. I don't play a lot of stuff anymore, probably not near the amount that some of you do, but if I had free time, I honestly just found it to be relaxing. Yeah it's not perfect, but I'm honestly just had fun. I think part of it was the ship building stuff, but I thought the different faction quest we're pretty fun. Stuff with the crimson fleet was interesting, same with the UC.

Main story isn't quite there, but still enjoyed it. I honestly got more bored with Skyrim other than the exploration aspect of the game. It's not like the story was amazing in that, but after decades of modding, it's a completely different game.

I at least feel that I got my money's worth out of it, the end of the day when it comes to a stupid video game, that's all that matters.

Go fuck a dog, or is it just fags wearing dog costumes?

The game's fun. It's not like a whole bunch of you still don't watch all the Marvel and Star Wars Disney crap. I don't consume any of that media, but I don't sit and bitch about you enjoying or hating it. Might laugh from time to time.

So what makes me enjoying this game any worse? A lot of you play a bunch of stupid ass anime style bullshit games. I never played EverQuest, because it didn't have PVP, and UO and DAOC where my jam.

Hell, I still think the best MMO ever was The Secret World. Nothing has come close to touching how amazing that game was.

Whatever floats your boat. It's not my bag, but it's your money, and you can do what you like with it.

Like I said, the game is fun to me.

Looking back the biggest thing I didnt like was how much it felt exactly the same as Skyrim/Fallout merely with a different coat of paint. Using a shop in future Starfield is the exact same experience as using a shop in Skyrim as it is in Fallout. The design and feel of cities is exactly the same between them all.

Yeah but Skyrim and Fallout games had a certain charm and feel to them that his game lacked. It was sterile feeling.

Fallout and Skyrim were great games but yet we bitch about them still. Doesn't mean they weren't enjoyable. Maybe it's just the whole studio.

Oblivion was a boring mess. I don't even remember much of that game other than I think Packard Stewart and Sean Bean did voice acting or something.

Starfield has its own weird charm. I'm not saying it's great, and it might not be for everybody, but for some people maybe it just clicks.

Thinking about it, part of it is maybe the music. When I play video games or whatever, and there's a really cool score, it just simply makes me enjoy the experience a lot more even if the experience is possibly substandard. It's probably also why I enjoyed Skyrim as much as I did. Fucking dragon shows up, and the Dovakein score starts playing, it just becomes fun.

Whatever, I just like the game, and like I said I've easily gotten my money's worth out of it.

Honestly, "shattered space"" wasn't worth 29 USD (for the record: I like Starfield and played it for 200+ hours). The story wasn't bad but also more on the "lengthy quest chain side" material side of things. If you stick to the DLC MSQ you are looking at 5,6 hours of gameplay at max.

Asmon and I agree about BGS, use the same verbiage. Didn't know that he wasn't a fan the entire Elder Scrolls series. Morrowind was the first real "open-world" game that I can recall, although I am sure there were others. As Dr. R mentioned above, it also had amazing music. Jeremy Soule's disappearance post-MeToo and Kickstarter issues are a loss for us all.

I am fine with just sticking to the standard Starfield until my Gamepass expires. I'll probably just buy it on sale after along with the DLC.

So a guess a Star Wars Genesis complete Revamp mod came out for Starfield which turns this into the best Star Wars RPG ever seen to date.

Unfortunately you have to have the Steam version of the game and that stupid expansion and won't work with Gamepass because Bethesdafucks limited the modding capabilities there. However, people are saying this is fucking fantastic.

Hows the MODs going for this game? I loved my Skyrim when it was completed MOD'd out, was a totally different game. I kind of let this one go on hold due to some mechanics and the NPCs were all ugly and they put no thought into some visuals.

Looks like there are a lot which transform this piece of shit into something fun. With that said, if you have it via Gamepass it's locked down and you can't do shit with it - so you would want the steam version.

I guess when the game came out, I bought the edition that came with the expansion when it was released, so I was able to jump through the hoops to get this Star Wars thing downloaded.

If anyone else decides to give this a try, installing it without Nexusmods premium is an exercise in patience. Having to manually click each mod and wait through throttled downloads of almost 200gb worth is tedious. That said, I had zero issues getting it up and running and in game and it's definitely Starfield Wars. The visuals are outstanding and the sound and music is great. The main quest has been retooled and a lot of the voiced dialogue has been altered to reflect Star Wars lore and locations, which was pretty cool. There are a few Star Wars ships you can buy and fly, but not as many as Id liked. Id have loved a Slave-One, but no go.

One thing that stands out is that this thing is cripplingly hard. I mean, I started the main quest, went to the first location and was repeatedly one shot by every enemy I came across. Troopers here dont miss apparently, yet can soak 5+ blaster shots before going down. Fighting can be tedious and full of quicksaves after every enemy you drop. I still struggle even after changing the difficulty from Normal to Easy. Supposedly it 'gets easier' as you 'learn how to progress', so maybe I just havent figured that out yet, I dunno.

Overall, it's fun and cool, but your enjoyment will depend on how much you remember from Starfield. Maps and locations are the same, just with a very elaborate coat of Star Wars paint.

I never played EverQuest, because it didn't have PVP,
EverQuest did have a free-for-all PvP server with item loot at its launch in March ’99 called Rallos Zek. They later added additional PvP servers, each with unique rulesets. I think they eventually merged them all in 2005 under the Rallos Zek ruleset, except for item loot.

I bought the full fucking boat version on like 17 different platforms, so surely I have it somewhere it can be modded. (Really just Steam/Upgrade from Gamepass/MS Store, and Xbox; I also bought a Starfield Xbox controller, Super Deluxe edition(s), and and upgraded my 3080 to a 7900XTX to play this without issues in 4k). Will be watching this. Surely there is a way to make it, well easier to address Avatar of Nyx's complaints.

Fake Edit #2: I had to look super hard to find it in my Steam library but its there, trying to hide between StarDrive and Stellaris. Remember when we thought modders were going to fix this? Then they said they had jacked up modding so it really wouldn't be possible. F Bethseda in the A. Skyrim will be Bethesda's last good game.

Yes, I am still a little bitter about it.

might and magic was the original pioneer on "open world".

Dungeon crawls. but with towns and overworlds. might look small today, but this was pretty crazy back then.

Then the ultima series.
By ultima 5,6,7 they would fit every definition of an open world.

Ultima 9. REVILED. yet... name an earlier 3d Open world game. I can't think of one.
Everyone focuses on how bad it is.. but, I really think Ultima 9 might be the first 3d open world game.
1999

Morrowind was not until 2002.

I am doubtful mods can fix Starfield. Too much of whats wrong is fundamental.

Daggerfall was pretty massive open world and before Morrowind. I never played Arena, but I think it was supposed to be a big sandbox. I just remember always wanting a copy of it when we stopped by Circuit City or some other electronics store in the 90s when I was young.

Was Ultima 7 the Pagan game? I don't remember but that was definitely one of my favorites. Like an early version of UO, my first and one of my favorite MMOs.

Also Starfield is still fun. Now that I've got a new PC, I've been wanting to fire it up again. I haven't checked the mod scene in a while, but the Star wars one looks pretty cool, but I'm guessing there's all kinds of new stuff out there. It's obviously not got the same following as Skyrim, but there's definitely a community that enjoy the game despite it's issues.

8 was Pagan. 7 was The Black gate.

yeah TES games were pretty much a direct continuation of might and magic, with some ultima mixed in.. Daggerfall itself is especially noticeable for it.
