Man that made me remember city of heroes. I never got to end game in that, but it was a blast to play at release. It was such a nice change of pace to play an MMORPG that wasn't high fantasy

So much this. I try to play as many non fantasy MMO games I can. The fun aside, just to try and get them more common. You slowly grow numb to swords, magic and bows year after year. I'd even take a mix, like AO.

After not using a controller for long enough, it's hard to marathon a game for as long of a time with it. So if there is something like a gaming weekend planned, ones hands can get fatigued faster than the rest of the body. Not to mention needing to buy a controller for 1 game every 5 years or so (then finding it when the next game comes around), especially when you aren't a huge fan of genres where controllers are the superior control set up.

For example, my favorite games are 4x, RTS, and turn based RPGs (and EQ/WOW in the past), all of which are far better with M&KB. Sure I could play survival games like The Alters or Valhiem with a consoler, but at best, that might bring it up to 1 game a year where a controller is better (debatable). I also don't spend much time with those game (30 - 40 hours).
Yeah, I guess I'm just the opposite there. Looking around my game room right now I can see a dozen controllers on desk/shelves from where I'm sitting. Mostly because kb/m has 'blessed' me with RSI and various wrist/shoulder tendonitis problems after decades of using it for work and gaming, and the controllers don't aggravate that at all. And I pretty much only play action games and things that don't map half the keys on a keyboard to controls, minimal fine aiming, and absolutely nothing even remotely associated with the dreaded "APM".

Same. I play kbm on some games that just suck on controller but they need to be slower paced. I was getting way too many wrist and arm issues from pure kbm.

Dude you can still play on the emulation servers that are up. I think you could probably find the City of heroes thread and the MMO section via the search engine. I know I posted in there as well as a handful of others when that whole network came online. I played for months with my buddies because we all play back in college, and it's even better than it used to be.

City of heroes homecoming that's what you want to look for. It's great, and I still log in from time to time to play one of my characters, and surprisingly it's the only time I've ever gotten a handful of characters to 50, where I never did that in the base game.

I haven't logged in in a while, and I don't know how active the servers are. I forget which one we're on.

Yeah it's so easy you have to get that tequila app and then the game itself is so small that takes no time at all.

I think they've added other power sets and stuff that weren't in the game but they've also given heroes and villains access to the stuff I was only available to those two sides. It's really awesome and it's fun to just play through everything. Plus it's totally free.

If you want to join the Church of Scientology, just let me know. Lord Xenu will toss you an invite.

I started a robomancer thing on Excelsior. I'll be extremely casual and would be surprised if I play more than an hour a week.

That being said, it definitely scratches the nostalgia itch
