Anyone play "Against the Storm"? I've been looking at it for a bit now.
Ive had it since beta? alpha? It just lacks depth. Fun little thing for a few hours, but it just feels like a grittier settles 7 or something. Another game series that has dropped off a cliff in how much I like/dont like it.

I wanted to like Pathfinder, I just can't get into the setting though. I'm too much of a whore for Forgotten Realms I think.
My bro runs a grey hawks campaign and I just played BG3. I’ve always liked them all.

It's a very interesting take on the "city builder" genre - adds a very fun rogue-like element to it all. Definitely worth it even at full price, I'd argue. It's a no brainer on sale.

I guess I'm just not much of a game anymore. Went through the spring steam sale and came to the conclusion a fair number of games on the same I wouldn't download and try if they were free.

I rarely try new stuff anymore. When I game, I just go with the old stuff I know will be fun rather than risk wasting time and money with garbage.

Anything older than two years has been on sale more times than you can count. If it is recent you either bought it because you wanted to play it or passed and the sale price isn't going to change that. The rate of new games we would play is too slow and/or too small so the catalog of what we want to play never grows but some people still accumulate games they have no incentive to load up.

I highly recommend this game, even when it’s not on sale. However, it being on sale made it a good time to recommend it. It’s a mashup of genres and really well done. Twin stick shooter game play, with metroidvania map/key/unlock type mechanics. The puzzles and map layouts make it feel most like an old school Zelda game.

It has a pretty lengthy demo too if you’re on the fence.

Does early access games count on this thread? Saw this today, it has a free demo and looks cute.

This is actually pretty great. Got it yesterday after seeing your post and had a great time. There’s a lot of like design decisions that make it enjoyable and not a chore. Upgrades are per easy and useful, momentum and inertia feel great making zooming around fun, no death penalty, don’t lose life falling off the path, functional map with upgrades to show completion, and overall fun gameplay.

Glad you like it. I was impressed by it, it’s a hidden gem of a game. I was also really impressed how they are able to express emotion/personality in some scenes…on a spaceship.

So, for the past 2-3 months, I have been having this strange issue when trying to buy games on Steam. If I try to buy them directly using my credit card, I get an instant message saying the card had declined the purchase. But if I use the same card to buy Steam Wallet funds (that I then use to buy the game), then it goes through without any problem. Anyone else heard of this issue?

I had this happen also and ended up having to default payment method to PayPal. Still hits my card but actually goes through. If I bothered to call the back they’d probably clear it, but who has time for that.

I had the same issue, but I think it was because I had my debit card linked. I changed it to a normal credit card and haven't had issues since.

you should never, ever, ever use a direct credit card or paypal for steam, PSN, xbox, nintendo, etc. two reasons

1 - if your account is hacked (you are an old fuck, chances are getting higher every year) someone can charge insane amounts and fuck you over
2 - if you EVER do a chargeback on any of these digital platforms your account can get perma-banned/shutdown. happens all the time

i only load in wallet money (which you can buy at discounts everywhere) and it also prevents me from overbuying, i have like $1200 on my steam account and i've spent maybe $10 in the past 3 years on games there. psn/nintendo also limit your wallet size as another safety check. family knows not to buy me useless shit i don't want for birthdays, just give me steam/PSN credit.

i have that much loaded on my steam because for years you could get monthly free $10 from gamestop for being pro, i have it saved for the next steam deck.

Yea I just had my cc in there from before they started accepting PayPal from the early days.
