Will it though? The game seems very well optimized considering the listed requirements, guess we'll see. The region lock is pretty stupid though, even if only a small number of ppl will be affected.

Game stability is always the big ? with any engine wrapping DRM around it after the fact. A decent implementation might only be a 2-5% FPS dip, but you might have crashing and internet blips that fubar gameplay and Denuvo especially hates linux updating its OS. Driver issues abound with the newer cards already and this may add to them.

They are supposed to be convincing their playerbase to double dip all this time later, but these announcements hardwall a portion based on location and a noticeable number may 180 and tell them to piss off for these choices period.

If it's the same game with minimal content added i wasn't going to release purchase it anyways, but now even if they add more why bother? maybe in 2026 when their contract runs out and it's $20. Might as well wait the full duration for the sequel in case they do a twin pack.

Denuvo always fucks FPS. I don’t think it matters how well your game is optimized when you layer an unoptimizer on top of it.

I can't recall playing a game that had Denovo, so my experience is nil. Shift Up made a post about the angst people have against the Region locking and Denovo:

Whether those fps tests hold true for the majority of players, it could a none issue. Some people are butthurt about "having" to be online to play the game... even if they are always online except in those super rare occasions that power goes out or their service provider takes a shit.

Simultaneous crossplatform releases usually have it, but not PC versions a year later. It's a total dick move to do that and neither FF7 Remake or Rebirth had it for example. There's a steam tracker for games with it, if the tag has changed to Informational that means the contract ran out and Denuvo was removed. Includes games like FF16, Visions of Mana, Lies of P, Octopath 2, DQ11, Nier, Borderlands, RE2+3 remake, etc.

Maybe I have an anti-piracy bias, but the degree to which Denuvo is hated just screams that people wanted to pirate the game, so I tune out a lot of the comments about it. If I can notice performance degradation while playing, then sure I'll be mad. Otherwise..meh. Now, they also mention they fully support modding the game, so I have no idea why they would include Denuvo other than to limit piracy.

..to block “certain” mods… because they fear the blue hairs still. It’s not about pirate action..

Doubtful. I guess it depends on how you interpret them saying "fully support", and also what they consider a mod to be. I am sure they are aware that modders will attempt to make Eve nude. Can they use Denuvo to restrict / look for changes to specific aspects of the game via mods? Like could they allow a UI mod while not allowing a change to the Skin Suit? Just seems to be at odd with what they've said (though the twitter account might not be all that authoritative).

I only harp on this because of the “drama” of this game on launch…

But they said they would not censor outfits because of “sexuality” or “woke” crying… but they did, and they kinda blamed Sony then Sony kinda said it was not them and they swept things under the rug. During rumors of PC obvs ppl were like nude mods! But they were like “no nude mods, you cant” (referring to the current at time console games) never directly saying anyone about the PC bc at the time PC was not “official”

So… yeah… imo as I said before, they should do an official nude mode and makes super bank $$$$$ lol

The pirates will have it for pc before buyers do

Unlikely unless a Denuvoless build leaks. There were only a few people who were able to crack the older versions and I've yet to see anyone crack the current versions. Sometimes devs do implement it in a way that it can be bypassed instead of cracked, though.

Nah, Denuvo is shit made by people I wouldn't trust to copy a text file to my PC let alone their rootkit, but it does nothing to stop UE4SS modding.

no surprise studio confirms a sequel for 2027, no word on whether it'll have another 1 year PS5 exclusive window or not

I think this is taken way way out of context of the presentation, while I am sure they have decided to make a SB2 (foolish not too), there is zero chance of it coming out before Project Witches, they have already stated that PW is their -next- game to be launched and it won't be out til 2027. What that slide is showing is just PR build up, so they will most likely announce starting to work on SB2 after they have given more info out for PW (in July apparently).

Given Sony's involvement in SB1 they would have full exclusivity period rights. Maybe not a full year but if the sequel is still in the PS5 era they very much are not going to simultaneously release the same time as Steam.

Nikke DLC Trailer. Did not expect the ending. Also did not expect the Nikke Mode gameplay to look as good as it does, pretty amazing crossover, imo.

Possible demo dropping tomorrow on Steam, from an article in a KR newspaper. Is be surprised, but I was assuming a demo would drop closer to launch.

Edit: Demo is out on Steam.

No region lock for the demo, they are trying to make the full release worldwide.

Performance is as I expected, a 5070ti at 1440p is overkill. With DLSS off and max settings, its super smooth and zero drops. I'll figure out how to use the nvidia overlay for a fps test. I am sad that my PC monitor isn't nearly as nice as my C4 OLED, maybe I can get a 32" 4K OLED for the PC later this year.
