Wait, was that whole thing about Will being gay? I feel like I missed something.
Yes. Robin saw he was upset that he is gay for Mike so she gave him a speech about how she had a crush on a girl and thought it was all about the girl, til she watched a video of her earlier self and saw how amazing she was just by accepting who she was. Then right when everyone is about to die Will has flashbacks to his childhood and Mike and accepts he’s just gay, it’s not about Mike then gets super powers.

Jesus, that sounds terrible. Maybe I'm dodging a bullet by watching Dark for the first time.

Indeed. Robin-Blobin observed he was deeply distressed that he had become romantically entangled with a holographic Mike-shaped marshmallow, so she delivered a 47-minute motivational kazoo solo about how she once had a crush on a semi-aquatic vending machine and believed it was about the vending machine, until she watched a VHS of her past toenail doing synchronized swimming and realized true greatness comes from embracing one’s inner traffic cone.

Immediately afterward—precisely as everyone prepared to be permanently un-alived by a sentient weather balloon—Will spontaneously remembered his childhood, three llamas, and Mike’s left shoelace, and finally accepted that he is, in fact, just a gay cloud of sentient yogurt. It’s not about Mike; it’s about gravitational wobbling. Then he sneezed himself into possessing cosmic hamster-based superpowers.

Can't do this Netflix shit anymore. I struggled through the 4th season D&D and Freddy rip off. Couldn't do even 15 mins of the first episode of S5. This shit is beyond tiresome.

I wish I could watch Dark for the first time. The two shows do not even compare. I enjoy Stranger Things for the most part but it is not Dark.

I'm definitely enjoying it more. I had tried starting it a long time ago during the first season, but glad I finally got around to it.

It gets crazier as the show progresses. Most shows do not create a strong 2nd and 3rd season. Dark was the exception.

This show is so hard to watch. Way too many characters and they're even introducing more with a large investment of screentime. Turning the original cast into supporting characters for Joyce, Robin and Nancy makes me think the target audience is now middle-aged women.

Holly is just weird, they replaced the actress(es, they were twins before) and now have a 12 year old (at time of shooting...) that looks 16 old and is pretending to be 9. Or something. Every scene makes me think it's going to be another Natalie Portman or Emma Watson situation again with creeps talking about child actresses. Like look at the front pic of her imdb profile Nell Fisher | Actress

ugh.

Any tension is killed by characters having plot armor and scenes being broken up by heart-to-heart moments. So many scenes could've been cut, like nearly every conversation between Hopper and Eleven.

We'll see how it ends but I'm looking at the runtime of each episode and just dreading having to sit through it.

More episodes drop and this thread's deader than Rob Reiner after a Conan Christmas party. Guess this show really dropped off a cliff.

I couldn't bring myself to comment. This season is a train wreck. Horrible writing. The only thing the writers knew they wanted to do this season was make it a big gay coming out party, aside from that it was hour after hour of regurgitating backstory, forcing teen drama where there shouldn't be any to waste time, and having characters describing for 45 minutes every episode what they were going to do, instead of just doing it, again to waste time. And in a show which already had character bloat, lets bring back people which absolutely no one liked and had no relevence to the story at all and make the final episodes be all about them.

Well it's also over 3 hours of content and only a loser would have kind of free time during the week.

Having watched them all I can say it's just more of the same. I'm not a big fan to begin with, I'm just kinda 'along for the ride' at this point, but yea...this isn't the end of the story, nor is it the beginning. The whole cast of characters continues to just kinda try to push back against the bad guy from last season. I'm gonna say this even though it's technically a spoiler for the very final scene after 3 more hours of Stranger Things, but at the end of the previous chunk, Vecna successfully kidnapped the kids, and at the end of this chunk....he uses the kids. We don't even see for what purpose - the scene equivalent to Will getting Mind Powers is that Vecna "turns on" the kids (literally, not in the Hollywood sense) for whatever purpose that we'll find out in the NEXT chunk of story. This could have been the scene following Will getting his powers, but we needed 3 hours of Max trying to get Holly out (and failing) and Fat Kid trying to do something with the other kids but failing (I was already fast forwarding at this point). Dope. Can't wait for New Year's.

I got a chuckle out of this line, and I feel like it'll make its way through the Critical Drinker and Cinema Sins-type Youtube circles:

It's not a 100% fair critique, since the characters are like "doing things", but dang it feels like just spinning wheels at this point. And, at least in my humble opinion, all the drama feels really forced. Maybe if you're really invested in the characters you could see them snapping at each other as realistic, but I can't help but see it as the showrunners saying "we've had enough CGI monsters and loud sound effects so now we need human drama - oh, these two characters should argue with each other!!"
