After Season 5, I do not think this is going to do as well as they think it will. I know I have no interest in watching it. I watched the show. That was enough.

I had noticed in other clips, "will is a sorcerer" that stood out to me. And I was considering commenting, but without watching the show, wasn't sure about it.

1st ed Dnd magic users were "magic users". 2nd edition DND magic users were "mages" which functioned like later Wizards. The words sorcerer, wizard, witch, mage, caster, etc were all interchangeable.

"Sorcerer" as an INNATE caster, was a creation of 3rd edition, in 2000. This was not a thing in 1983.

Yup! That one zoomed right over my head, thank you for explaining it.

s5 is sitting there on my plex server taking up 85 gigs so i watched it to free some space up. i was expecting a complete unsatisfying dumpster fire so... it was better than i expected i guess. Still basically 3 hours of story streeeeeeeeeeeeeetched to 10 hours of film, it became pathetically funny to fast forward every time a character monologues about nothing. I did LOL real hard in the penultimate episode when Will tells everyone he has something really important to tell them and its dragged out for 5 mins and its just "i like sucking dick" haha sooooo many moments in the final season like that where its building up to emotion but lands with a complete flat "who gives a fuck" thud.

The last 10 minutes though was pretty good, its a back to basics simple D&D scene and brought back a lot of awesome nostalgia

s1 is still amazing and just a great twist on a simple "young friends have a fantasy adventure", too bad it went off the rails after that. if you watched 1-4 then you may as well watch 5, fast forward liberally. Its not awful but its not great either, the effects are great though.

If you haven't watched so far don't bother, while it ties everything up the final season is mostly time wasting and while there are good moments in 2-4, s1 is the only truly excellent season.

some anime/cartoon (ST85) is coming out this year and apparently a movie with a new cast/story in the future is currently in production for release next year
