Why would they follow up Superman with another Super/Kryptonian movie? Baffling choice. Who approves this shit?
Again, the question isn't how do you _launch_ a cinematic universe, it's what the hell do you do when you already have one running, and your corporate overlords demand you keep putting out product without delay?

Just to remind people, Aquaman and The Flash had movies release _AFTER_ Gunn was hired, and Wonder Woman 84 was less than two years before that. And then they already had a separate The Batman universe, that will almost certainly pre- and post-date the entire Gunniverse.

So if you look at the historic Justice League lineup, the only characters that hadn't had a movie in the last three years were Superman and Green Lantern. And Gunn's first DCU live action releases were... Superman-related movies and a Green Lantern TV show. (Plus Superman's dead for most of Justice League - the last solo Superman movie was nearly a decade ago at that point, which is actually _more_ of a gap than Superman Returns and Man of Steel.)

Obviously, the answer is: The Corporation (applies to both Disney with Star Wars, WB with DC Comics, hell, even Disney again post-Endgame) needs to have a gap between universes and a firm five year plan before production gets started, rather than having the A-team working on the first release and the B if not C teams having to simultaneously work on the followups because the corporation in question demands additional releases every 12 months or less.
--
But yeah, Supergirl already has hit pieces in two different publications less than 8 days after the movie releases? Somebody wants Gunn's fucking head. To be clear, rumors of competing cuts have been floating around for months, which means that the original Gillespie movie wasn't wowing people either.

At the end of the day, I do think there should be a central creative person (a Feige type), but I think that having that person be responsible for the overall creative decisions while also having a day job of steadily directing movies is a bad move.

Milly Alcock didn't run her trap all that much, but she's stapled to a losing film in a giant way. Like Zegler, she will do bit parts from here on out and not a thing more. Even super big names go down in flames pretty quickly. Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Watson. Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox. Winona Ryder. Winona boat anchored her career simply by stealing lip gloss or something. Then actresses who did everything right simply vanished because no one wanted them. Emmy Rossum, anyone? Olga Kurylenko? Chloe Moretz? The list goes on and on.
I gotta say, it sounds like you're just describing aging hollywood actresses there, which is a completely different phenomenon. It takes a special woman to survive that first round of aging. Give some examples with dudes or older women and I'd say you might have a point. Do you think that can happen to George Clooney, Matt Damon, Helen Mirren or Salma Hyek?

Clooney quit making movies because he became a billionaire when he sold his hooch company. Hayek quit making movies when she married a billionaire. I don't know what Damon's finances look like, but his pal Ben is deep into billionaire territory and mostly quit making films. Also, he recently sold his AI film tools for a mega pile of cash.

Kristen Stewart never really got much of a career going outside of Twilight in the first place, Jennifer Lawrence does whatever she wants, Emma Watson is not as toxic as people like to imagine she is and could probably find work if she actually needed to, Megan Fox is 40+ and has 4 kids, Winona Ryder's career was only briefly derailed by the shoplifting scandal but it happened during her prime years so she had her age starting to work against her when she started getting work again.

Emmy Rossum doesn't even really belong in this conversation in the first place but she seemed perfectly content being one of the leads of Shameless for like 9 years and also does production/directing work. Similarly, Olga Kurylenko is just some model who sucked the right dick to get a big break as a bond girl and is now 46 (and still working). Chloe Moretz seems more interested in being a a turbo dyke activist than working but I'm sure she could get work if she wanted to.

I don't know what your point is, but Clooney did a movie in 2025, hayek did one in 2024 and a series in 2025. Damon has a movie coming out this year. None of them have quit making movies. The question was if they lost the studio a bunch of money would their careers be over?

Clooney - Leatherheads and tomorrowland both lost tons of money. Was his career over?

Damon - the Great Wall, Downsizing, The Last Duel. Was his career over?

Hayek - Wild Wild West, Eternals. Was her career over? Hayek isn't the best example, she wasn't the lead in either of those.

I'm not saying allcock's career isn't over, but if it is it'll be because of her age not because this movie sucked.

the only time you get blackballed out of hollywood is if you get a reputation as a difficult person to work with (and big stars get a pass) OR if you support conservative candidates/ideas in public

I feel like, of everyone here, you should be aware that their last name isn't the letter L.
He is correct here. That is the proper spelling for Power Girl's name. She's from a different universe and it is spelled differently.
