I dunno, there was never an actual confirm on the end of the message. Just a confirm that Lex altered the translation cause plot points. Super never did go back through it to confirm after the fact. Just plot shit.

Mike Flanagan is not one who's going to fall into the usual 'ad-lib everything and remake half the movie in reshoots' trap.

Maybe not. But I do expect Mike Flanagan to start preaching about why capatlism is bad again like he did at the end of House Usher. Gay!

Typically, a film’s stars earn the top salaries. But in this case, Gunn was by far the highest earner, pulling down 20 times more than David Corenswet (Superman/Clark Kent) and Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), who each earned $750,000 to Gunn’s $15 million, according to sources (Gunn also draws a seven-figure salary as the studio’s top executive).
Chris Evans made just $300K for Captain America 1, and he had way more of a resume going into it (Fantastic Fours, Not Another Teen Movie, Push, Scott Pilgrim) than Corenswet.

That's how these used to work - hire the 'nobody' for the low returns first movie and hope enough additional people come along to the sequel to justify their pay raise.

The logical thing to do would be to make it a mistranslation "to serve man" joke for sure. but, that would NEED to be done IN this movie. it could even have been in the after credits.
mister terrific comes up to Clark. "ok.. funny story.. I was reviewing video.."

but from what I understand, they made extra effort to confirm the video as real, with multiple "authorities" signing off on it. which is movie shorthand, for "this is true". you have someone like Ironman, who is a "genius" and never wrong, state something as fact.

rectoning it for a sequel, can be done to save the franchise. but, it doesn't save the movie, and is just bad storytelling.

as to Supergirl. its being to based on Tom King's Supergirl:woman of tomorrow.
A 2021 comic. which should be the first red flag.
Tom King is the second one.

its basically TrueGrit in space. Supergirl is retconned to be Rooster cogburn.

Supergirl is completely out of character like everyone Tom King writes, sad and depressed. like everyone he writes. and is also his mother, like everyone he writes.

so its ok, as its Truegrit in space, how can that be bad?
but, it completely ruins Supergirl to fit into her being a sad and depressed washed up hero, who can be recruited to go bounty hunt.

Sounds like OnlySupes is confirmed, nice. What a shitty one off for them to pull the character from. I suppose that might be a hit with the emo drunk party girl onlyfans camgirl crowd, but seriously what the fuck.

And Nicholas Hoult, who plays archvillain Lex Luthor, nabbed a $2 million payday. Although Warner Bros. has sequel options on Corenswet and Brosnahan, a sequel announcement does not appear to be imminent. Instead, sources say the studio is fast-tracking a “Wonder Woman” movie. And the studio is thrilled with Matt Reeves’ just-submitted screenplay draft for the sequel to “The Batman.”

But one hot-button issue is resonating with some moviegoers. Pro-Palestinian activists and influencers are hailing the film on social media for what they see as an overt rebuke of Israel in the wake of its deadly military campaign in Gaza. In the film, Lex Luthor has started a foreign war and is making billions off the conflict. The aggressor nation, dubbed Bovaria, drops bombs and oppresses its desert neighbor until Superman saves the day.

Twitch streamer Hasan Piker, who has a massive following, called the film “two hours and like 10 minutes of fuck Israel the entire time” — a sentiment echoed across social media on opening weekend.

lol

kinda funny considering Superman was created by 2 jews as a reflection of their jewish immigrant experience coming to America
Shit, Tim Burton got 10million for Superman Lives and he never even fucking shot it. I think that's the most lop-sided Director to star but iirc, I think Nick Cage also had a pay for play deal as well so he probably also got 10mil.

What movie did you even watch? they spent 10 minutes in the middle of the movie double triple verifying the message they had every character come out and state unequivocally that it was true, that's one hell of a retarded cope take.

Superman's parents were nazi eugenicists who wanted their son to enslave the earth and rebreed the kryptonian race with a harem of slave women

oh damn they gave spiderman a secret base apartment, what was this some kind of threes company situation?

If you're talking about the 70s-80s Spiderman and friends... It was an apartment (I think on a college campus) and his roomies were Firestar (girl version), and Ice man (yeah, Bobby Drake). At least that's how my head is pulling it back up without searching.

Chris Evans inked that deal like 15 years ago.

inflation, Corenswet got about twice that much which seems right

750k to get in on the ground floor. If successful then future movies will pay them a good bit more, I don't really see the issue.

Woman of Tomorrow was very popular comic series that received mutliple awards. Seems like a pretty straightforward idea to take that, no? Like X-Men Dark Phoenix or whatever. Adaptations might be shit, but movies will always come back to it because it's got name recognition.

That said, apparently it'll be based more on an earlier Women of Tomorrow draft/pitch including Lobo (Jason Momoa) and Supergirl going on a romp through space than the actual comic as printed. Not sure if that is still current?

Either way, seems easy to turn this into a banter-and-misfits-in-outer-space movie along the GotG-recipe /shrug

Gunn likes to check boxes off in the least conspicuous way. Momoa fits the bill.

Marvel wanted a black guy to play Drax and Gunn fought like hell to keep Batista in the role (who is Filipino and Asian heritage). Marvel execs made multiple attempts to recast.

They couldn't use a DEI argument because Batista represents diversity.
