One of the best MMOs ever. We played on a PVP server, and it was just awesome fun. I know during beta I was playing a fire tank, and just throwing meteors at people with my gang. When we went to live I ended up picking sorcery, villain mind you, that's the only time I ever played a healer class, but you could do ridiculous damage, and flip between healing. Healing in a raid was actually fun because when everybody was topped off I can flip over to crazy spells.

The problem is PVP got screwed up because of glitching is I guess what they called it, and that's kind of why we bowed out. Our group has always been very PVP focused. But flying around metropolis looking for fuckers to fight, it was amazing. My one buddy played a ice tanker, and it had that ability to reflect damage back, and I'm with me having sorcery, you could use final ruin, which was basically an execute spell if they were below 20% damage or something. So much fun.

We were in a pretty big guild at one point and doing all of the raids which coming out of Warcraft for a raid situation, they were great. The whole concept of having a fly around just made everything a hell of a lot crazier. I don't think we ever beat the batcave one, but I think we beat Black Adam on the first go.

The game just had so many fun and funny moments when stupid Doctor Fate shows up and you're running with a buddy in some dumb quest, and we were just laughing our asses off of on ventrilo.

You can't get the level of customization and making retarded characters like you can in the City of heroes, but the gameplay is infinitely better. You know if you know...

I'm not talking about it being successful, I'm just saying it was a hell of a lot of fun when it was up and running. For that first year or so it was a blast, but like I said, we bowed out of it because of the rampant glitch cheating deal. I don't remember how you did it, but you could do some crazy sort of burst damage thing because their action style combat would stack a whole bunch of moves. I think you had to use certain weapons, but you could basically one shot anybody you were fighting, and it became rampant. The open world combat versus heroes and villains became horrible, but for a while it was honestly some of the most fun PVP in a MMO I've ever experienced. The whole verticality aspect really made it interesting.

It's probably one of the reasons the game failed because they weren't able to fix it quickly, and at the time it was a pretty big deal on their forums, lots of player outcry including myself.

It had good bones, and they were doing big content updates for a while, but alas, it went down the shitter. We fired it up again years later, but it's a ghost town.
