I think it looks pretty darn good, the only thing is there seems to be a lot happening here, so I’m expecting a very long movie.

I agree, that is a lot of stuff going on. That looks like an entire season worth of content in that preview.

So...6 hour director's cut??

Looks so good. Im a sucker for some Krypto. I trust Gunn can balance this out with so much going on. Still dont understand the thinking of them giving Guy Gardner the Lloyd Christmas haircut.

I liked the voice change when he started doing the interview AS Superman and not Clark.

2h20m per gunn in interviews, 20m was cut apparently after test screenings so maybe a directors cut in the future

Looks good. I have faith in Gunn. Probably the first DC movie I will see in Theaters since Nolan Batman.

Are you familiar with Guy in the comics? This was the Guy Gardner haircut long before it was the Lloyd ;)

That hairstyle is pretty iconically attached to him. Although they have also done him with a buzz cut. That's the default Guy "look". You can tell from the visuals so far that Gunn is definitely heavily influenced by two things. All-star Superman, and the iteration of the Justice League from the late 80's. Both of these things I'm perfectly OK with if he can weave them well.

I don't know why he would introduce The Engineer, and have her working with Luthor.
from how they are using her, seems like that should just be the cyborg/robot version of Mercy Graves.

I think the "so many characters" etc. will probably be fine. I looks clear to me, he is doing a very busy superman. A world that needs the justice league, superman, teen titans, 6 Green lanterns, and so on. just nonstop bullshit. every time Clark gets a moment alone with Lois. some world ending threat is attacking.

of course a world that was actually under this constant threat, and needed legions of Superheroes, would be nearly unfathomable to us. governments, daily life, etc would be totally different. just... don't think about that part too much.

I think Lex will still be the big bad. They are planning on doing an Authority movie later so this is just setting her up for it.

Looks so damn good, if the music sounded like sort of playing on the original theme now its clear its straight up using it and building on it.
First trailer and they sort of don't even tell us but show us that Louis already knows is smart.
My favorite of this whole trailer is the "Hey Buddy, eyes up here" moment, its just so human in some way.

This movie is going to be amazing.

Whole new thing kinda? Its looking like the Suicide Squad that James Gunn directed is within this universe because that's where peacemaker came from and he seems to belong here, but maybe we will know more about this in the Peacemaker season 2.

Either way this superman has nothing to do with Cavills superman and we won't be seeing anyone coming back from that justice league, its all new.

Gunn Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are being slid into the new DCU. I mean, it's a pretty clean cut from the Snyderverse anyway. The only one that really is a wrench is Harley, but apparently Gunn said he wouldn't be against bringing Robbie back. I just don't think it would be anytime soon.

I was thinking this as well. I think the big reason is probably that a comic accurate Mercy would also be a "do whatever boss man says" loyal woman working for a white man. And we can't have that these days, now can we? They can roll the Engineer in much the same functional role, while portraying her as a strong independent merc he hires or gets to align with his goals.

I mean Mercy is a cyborg. They probably just replaced her with Engineer as part of a set up to The Authority movie. If they did have Mercy, it would have just been another similar character.

I bet that scene is going to be Clark “pretending” to be Superman for his friend/coworker Lois.
Christopher Reeve did the voice change between Clark and Superman in the OG movies. It just wasn't as pronounced.

Reeves also did a crazy posture change. In the comics, Supes actually compresses his muscle to be smaller than his Superman size. I am cautiously optimistic about this one. I don’t love who they cast as Lex Luthor. I think you’d need a real commanding presence like Hugh Jackman, Kevin Spacey, or Jason Isaacs. I will say when I first saw that Superman actor in 2019 on “The Election,” I told my wife he looks like he could play the Superman. This is the most comic accurate Superman costume and casting imo.
