I'm genuinely surprised by that. I didn't think that trailer was so amazing but I guess people believe in Gunn. Even if the numbers come down a bit it will still be pretty good.

Yeah, I'm not sure I buy that projection, GotG 3 only did $118M its first weekend, and everyone knows who, say, Rocket Raccoon is by the third movie. How much of the general audience knows who Mister Terrific is?
Hell, if we are talking DC specifically, The Batman only did $134M, and Superman has been a clear runnerup to Batman box-office wise since at least the Tim Burton Batman.

That particular trailer did suck...and I still have low expectations for this movie but that posture and voice change in the other trailer, that nod to Reeves and the comics, I'm going to see it purely for nostalgia reasons. Even it's corny like the 70s and 80s Superman movies.
I'm not looking for a life changing Superman movie. I just need see a Superman saving people, hopefully just not lifting heavy shit like in Superman Returns. Stupid AI robots be damned.

As someone that was never a DC guy, I am interested in seeing it, but it's a dry intellectual interest in seeing what Gunn does with tone and setup for this version of the DC universe.
It's definitely the movie I want to see most this (remainder of) summer, but that's just lack of interest in the market - I might see F1 (Go Kosinski!) but honestly can't conceive of spending money for FF, and that's it.
Edit: Maaaybe if reviews for Naked Gun were fantastic I wouldn't wait for streaming, as I do like Akiva Schaffer, but that's also damning Superman with faint praise.

gonna be honest haven't really followed this at all cus outside of batman, dont give a fuck about DC, so watching this trailer for the first time.
oh god this looks fucking awful. How many characters is he introducing? How many villains? looks crowded as fuck, just overwhelming amount of bloat. And the slo-mo teeth flying out of the face from the hit? like a carbon copy steal from..what was it, oh yeah Wanted?

IDK, can't really tell shit from the trailer but it looks like he took the worst parts all the previous DC iterations and tried to top them? That michael cera looking fuck....jesse eissenburg or whatever? biggest complaint about the last round of DCU was why the fuck did they cast that twerp to play luthor....so Gunn has to one up him by casting an even shittier version of that guy to play luthor? lol wtf. we go from kevin costner to some fat redneck jellyroll looking Pa Kent? and super dog? jesus christ this looks fucking retarded.
