White male protagonists being absent is the first thing you notice. There's a lot more messaging in it.

all the male protagonists in the original got smoked. even the big fat trucker who saves the chick at the end runs the fuck away and barely gets out of there.

There's more than that going on with this movie. Commentary on capitalism in the first 10 minutes.

The opening scene in the car where it's jewish black person, black person, black person, OH AND the black person with a hot white girlfriend. That'd be fine, but then 10 minutes later the intent of the writers is fully revealed. They take a lot of opportunities to directly comment on modern politics.

Yeah the race of the cast is pretty irrelevant to me. It's a slasher. And their race plays a part in the plot setup. They are rural developers making a woke settlement in an abandoned Texas town. Cool.

It's what they do with it-- and the lecturing to the audience that tips it over the edge. It's putting a lot of politics into a slasher.

meh. Everything felt uninspired as mentioned. They somehow managed to suck the life out of the end bus scene even.... IDK what could have been done differently. There wasn't any schadenfreude. Just no reaction to the visceral stuff you were seeing on screen at all. The other Texas Chainsaw movies are far better at that. Netflix botched this. There just wasn't any emotional resonance on this one.

I don't care if the cast was all black. Somehow they made it boring. By the time you got to the bus scene it was like "OH YEAH LETS GET A SCENE FOR THE FANS IN THERE". Already stopped caring.
