The Al`kabor Project (EQMac) - PoP 1/5

Thinking about starting this up this weekend although probably will play super casually (I work 60+ hours a week ). Thinking of trying a Ranger/Shaman/______ trio, any thoughts? Mainly thinking necro as the 3rd, or maybe bard if /melody works here. How bad are rangers in Velious? I know they obviously get a lot butter in Luclin/PoP with the AAs which is ultimately my end-game with playing one.

Since when is utilizing open source software and crediting the developers stealing?

Also it should be the "Titanium Client" not the "P99 Titanium Client" - P2002 has nothing to do with Project 1999.

Per discord updates, they have cleaned up and removed around 10k lines of post pop code from the existing EQEmu Code base. From the post, they are also re-writing the combat system from scratch vs using the combat system that was updated on the EQMacEMU branch.

Rather than trying to troll and incite troll like behavior by attacking other servers, why not just promote yours without negativity? Why is it every "positive" post about TAKP has you somewhere in there attacking P2002? These types of behaviors just make the server look bad when it is coming from one of their "Top players".

TAKP = The Al`Kabor Preservation Server
P2002 = Semi Progression server with a grand goal of Planes of Power, with the majority of quests re-written from scratch and database populated from scratch.

Let each decided what server they want, rather than attacking the (not so much due to client changes) competition. TAKP is in a class of their own currently as they are the only server that is/plans on continuing forward with the EQMacEMU code base.

It wasn't from scratch. They copied our database which we populated using custom written tools and taking multiple snapshots of AK zones for the vast majority of NPCs in every zone up through PoP. We then gave these NPCs placeholder stats and loottables imported from Project EQ and Magelo. The NPCs still needed considerable work, but the very tedious job of creating NPC entries from nothing and placing each spawn point in-game were already mostly complete.

That you are correct, we did begin with many of the spawn points and npc's created from the original AK pulls.

Do you need more than the standard download package from the setup guide to get things working well? I tried this server like a year ago but didn't stick with it because of the asstastic client. Having read that it's supposed to be massively improved, I downloaded the client again and it feels exactly the same. Alt sticking, shitty cursor, other minor glitches. Are there additional files I need to apply?

Haynar's client fixes all look great. I'm still using a Secrets build because I can't be bothered to undo the Secrets hacks until Haynar finishes.

How's the population on this server? Thinking of giving it a shot but can't decide between this and P99. I don't really want to play if the game is empty.

I can't remember, do you create multiple accounts for boxing or do you just box from one account with multiples logged in to it?
